Katie Maloney‘s new boyfriend, Sleeping With Sirens guitarist Nick Martin, is in the midst of divorce.
After Katie, 37, confirmed she’s “in love” on her podcast earlier this week, sharing the news on the 42nd birthday of ex-husband Tom Schwartz, an insider is revealing details about how their romance began — and when they started dating.
“Katie loves the emo music scene and has been a fan and friend of Nick’s band for some time,” an insider told Page Six on October 17. “While the pair started out as friends, things took a turn this past summer in August and their relationship developed really quickly.”
According to the report, Katie and Nick met through friends in the music industry, and they “bonded” over their businesses, including her sandwich shop, Something About Her, which she co-owns with friend and Pump Rules co-star Ariana Madix, 39, and his coffee shop, Charlie Royal.
Although the couple was “trying to keep things under wraps” due to Nick’s ongoing “heavy divorce” from estranged wife Jenna Martin, who he married in September 2016, they’ve been growing their relationship “in the meantime.”
While it is unknown when Nick and Jenna split, they were last seen together on Instagram during a visit to Universal Orlando Resort for Nick’s birthday in December 2023, a couple of months after Katie began “liking” Nick’s posts.
On Wednesday, amid the taping of her podcast, Disrespectfully, Katie revealed, “I have a boyfriend.”
“I’m in love. Katie’s in love. I am. I’m really happy,” she gushed. “He’s the most wonderful person I’ve ever met. He just makes me feel really special and he’s really special. And I’m just really, really happy … That’s my big life update, everybody.”
Although Katie hasn’t yet confirmed Nick’s identity, the two of them were seen seated beside one another at Something About Her earlier this month.
Katie’s new relationship with Nick comes two years after she finalized her divorce from Schwartz, to whom she was married for six years.
In July of this year, while appearing on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Katie opened up about the issues in her marriage.
“There was so much missing … I needed a partner in life and I needed that big love and I just didn’t have that. I feel like he just didn’t like me in ways,” she explained.
She then noted that when it came to a potential reconciliation, there was no chance of her and Schwartz getting back together.
“I don’t think he’s done any type of therapy or work. He still wants to be like, ‘Yeah, I understand, the bar and my family was going through stuff.’ I’m like, ‘Sir, when are you going to talk about your involvement in like our relationship and not showing up for me and giving me emotional support and acting like my emotions were not valid?’” she wondered.
Vanderpump Rules season 12 is expected to begin filming sometime this fall.
