Brandon Sklenar is set to star opposite Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried in director Paul Feig’s psychological thriller The Housemaid for Lionsgate.
Sklenar most recently appeared opposite Blake Lively in It Ends With Us, the romantic drama that became a box office hit with $348.2 million globally
Lionsgate is backing the project, which stars Sweeney plays Millie, a struggling young woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (Sklenar), an upscale, wealthy couple. But Millie soon learns family secrets far more dangerous than her own past.
The film pic is based on a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine that adapted Freida McFadden’s novel, which sold over 3.6 million copies.
Feig’s most recent project as director is Amazon’s action-comedy Jackpot!, which debuted in August, while his sequel feature A Simple Favor 2, starring Lively and Anna Kendrick, is set for release next spring from Amazon and Lionsgate.
Sklenar is set to star in Christopher Landon’s Drop for Blumhouse/Universal, and he also had a breakout role as Spencer Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 for Paramount+, which is currently in production on season two.
Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman will produce The Housemaid. Carly Kleinbart Elter will oversee the project for Hidden Pictures. Feigco’s Feig and Laura Fischer are also producing. Sweeney and Seyfried serve as executive producers, alongside Alex Young and McFadden.
Chelsea Kujawa and Erin Jones-Wesley are overseeing the project for Lionsgate. Sklenar is represented by WME, Neon Kite, and Goodman Genow.
