Jarrett “JT” Thomas took to his Instagram page on Thursday to confirm his exit from Southern Charm.
Weeks ahead of the Bravo reality series’ 10th season premiere, JT, 39, who recently came under fire for his allegedly staged romance with co-star Venita Aspen, 31, announced to his fans and followers that he was done with the show as he shared plans to focus on his “physical and mental” health.
“It comes with a heavy heart to share that I have resigned from Southern Charm,” JT wrote in his November 8 post. “Yesterday I informed Bravo that I will not be participating in the [two to three] remaining green room interviews remaining before [the season] airs [on December 5] (I’ve done about [nine] thus far leading up to today) and that I no longer wish to participate in any ways moving forward with the TV show.”
“I will leave it at that for now. While I work on next steps to recover both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging [and] exhausting year,” he added.
Following his announcement, JT was met with tons of supportive messages from his online audience.
“OMGosh, we love you on the show! I pray all things good for you. You were/are such a breath of fresh air for the show. Doubt I will be watching without you,” one person said.
“Oh no!!! You will be missed dude!! Take care man,” wrote another.
“This must have been a difficult decision but how inspiring you are to put yourself first. You were a breath of fresh air last season and put up with so much while always being a person of strong character and integrity,” stated a third.
Then, as others said they were sorry to see him leave and noted that the show would “not be the same without [him],” someone suggested he endured “trauma” from his time on the show, which he joined in 2023 for season nine.
“Aww. A gentleman is leaving. This shows you have more strength and self worth. Best of luck to you,” another person wrote.
“Mental and physical health is the most precious thing and you must protect it at all costs … Nothing is worth damaging that. Sending love,” encouraged someone else.
JT’s exit from the show comes just days after he was accused of a “fake” love triangle with Venita and his new girlfriend, Ali Pereless.
As fans may have seen, the debut of JT and Ali’s new romance was met with tons of backlash from fans who signaled a scene from the season 10 trailer in which he seemingly began dating Venita.
“WTF is wrong with you?” a person named Kendall Pereless, the reported sister of Ali, asked.
“What about Venita?” wondered another.
Even Ali herself seemed to have been shocked by the reveal and allegedly wrote, “The truth will come out … Ya boy isn’t as kind and honest as he proclaims!”
Southern Charm season 10 premieres on Thursday, December 5, at 9/8c on Bravo.
