#Socialites, get a load of this! Doctors are warning of a rise of “winter penis” and “winter vagina,” claiming the cold weather outside can reduce the male organ size by up to 50% and cause women to experience “drought mode.”

Doctors in the United Kingdom have issued PSAs about staying bundled up so to avoid the risk of the rising “winter penis” and “winter vagina.” The seasonal condition involves cold weather shrinking the size of men’s penis sizes and having women’s vaginas go into “drought mode.”

According to the Daily Mail, Dr. Donald Grant, a General Practitioner and Senior Clinical Advisor at The Independent Pharmacy, a UK-based online drug store, “winter penis” is a passing condition for most men that only occurs during cold and frigid weather conditions. It will then reverse once the temperatures rise again.

The phenomenon can affect men of all ages and can cause the male organ to reduce in size by up to 50%. Dr. Grant explains, “It’s a completely natural reaction to harsh temperatures and can happen to men of all ages. The reaction can last as long as the body is exposed to cold temperatures, with size returning to normal once the body returns to a warmer, more comfortable state.”

Additionally, when the thermostat drops, so will the male member as slowed circulation to the penis makes it difficult to have it stand at attention and maintain an erection.

Dr. Grant says the seasonal issue occurs because the body “prioritizes blood flow to more important parts of the body” in the cold, such as internal organs. The male genitalia will recede into the body to maintain body heat. Dr. Grant says, “Winter penis is the body’s temporary response to the drop in temperatures which causes the penis and testicles to shrink in size. The testicles shrink so they can remain as close to the body as possible to stay warm.”

While most men who experience “winter penis” only endure it occasionally and briefly, for the 30 million American men diagnosed with erectile dysfunction (ED), however, Dr. Grant says that the seasonal “winter penis” can be “more difficult to manage,” due to the additional underlying issues that block blood flow to the penis.

Meanwhile, there are some 4.3 million men in the United Kingdom who suffer from ED, according to The Urology Foundation. Dr. Grant wholly says, “Men who already suffer from ED could find their condition more difficult to manage when the weather begins to deteriorate.” A quick and simple fix for “winter penis” involves you simply the man simply warming up his entire body, so that it will stop trying to adapt and lessen blood flow to the penis to better survive the cold.

Elsewhere, Mary Burke, a former NHS midwife and Senior Clinical Nurse at the London Bridge Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Clinic, previously told The Sun Health that women’s vaginas can be affected by cold and frigid weather conditions and experience “drought mode.”

She said, “Dry autumn and winter air depletes moisture from our bodies, leaving our skin dehydrated and cracked, and our sinuses parched. And while it’s an issue few will want to discuss openly, our vaginas can enter ‘drought mode’ during this time, too. When we spend a lot of time in air-conditioned rooms, or with the heating on, we’re living in air which carries very little moisture. And the dryness we experience can often extend to every inch of our bodies — including our most private regions.”
