Charlize Theron is joining the Nolan-verse.
The Oscar winner is the latest A-list talent to join Christopher Nolan‘s new feature. Matt Damon, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and Anne Hathaway are all set to star. Universal Pictures had no comment on the casting.
Nolan wrote the script and is directing the project, which Universal will distribute. The studio has set a release date of July 17, 2026.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. Nolan is producing alongside producing partner and wife Emma Thomas for their Syncopy banner.
Sources say that Damon, Holland, Hathaway and Pattinson make up the core leads of the feature, while Nyong’o and Zendaya are said to have supporting roles.
The new feature reunites Nolan with the studio that made his drama Oppenheimer, which earned a staggering $976 million worldwide and won the Oscar for best picture. Oppenheimer was the first time the filmmaker worked with Universal, a relationship forged after Nolan publicly split with longtime home Warner Bros. in late 2020. While Oppenheimer was picked up by Universal in an open auction setting, this new project ended up going straight to the studio, according to sources.
Theron, who is repped by CAA and Hansen Jacobson, was last in theaters with Fast X and will next appear in the sequel to Netflix’s The Old Guard.
