While the creative team behind Deadpool & Wolverine was given a great deal of creative freedom by Marvel and Disney with their jokes, there were some things that were off limits, and one of Deadpool’s vulgar jokes written in the script for the film involved Mickey Mouse, and they were asked to cut it.

When you read the joke, which was included in the script for the film that was recently released to critics for consideration in screenwriting categories, it’s not hard to understand why Disney wanted it cut.

In the theatrical cut of the film, when Deadpool meets Blade, Elektra, and Gambit, he’s told there is a fourth member, who Wade earnestly hopes is Magneto.

Blade tells Deadpool that Magneto is dead, and this sets Deadpool off about Disney not putting up a bigger budget to afford prominent actors like Ian McKellen or Michael Fassbender.

Wade goes on to compare the situation to being like “Pinocchio stuck his nose up my ass and started lying like crazy.”

But, in the original script for the film. Deadpool instead says: “F*CK! What we can’t even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe will all this Mickey Mouse c**k in my throat.”

You can see a screenshot of the script page below. But, now that you know what the joke was, you now have an understanding of why it was ultimately cut from the film.

It’s funny that this joke was released because director Shawn Levy once said he would take it to the grave with him. He said:

“The general rule is to never punch down and to only take the piss out of people who can take it. Certainly, when it was about Hugh in a meta way, Hugh was always the first to laugh uproariously.

“There was only one line in the entire movie that we were asked to change. We have made a pact, Ryan and I, to go to our grave with that line, but I will say that it was replaced with an equally dirty line of dialogue about Pinocchio shoving his face up Deadpool’s ass and starting to lie like crazy.

“I was like, ‘Ryan, that’s your replacement line in response to, ‘Can we clean it up?’ That’s Ryan Reynolds for you, audacious to the very edge.”

Well, now they don’t have to go to the grave with that line.
