The American neo-Western crime drama television series Longmire has captivated audiences for an extended period. With a successful six-season run, fans have become increasingly attached to Robert Taylor’s character, Walt Longmire. However, the recent announcement that Longmire will be leaving Netflix has left many fans shocked. As the show prepares to leave Netflix, viewers are eager to know when it will depart and where Longmire will stream next.

Here’s everything you need to know about the show’s departure and its new streaming platform.

When will all seasons of Longmire leave Netflix?

All six seasons of Longmire will officially leave Netflix on January 1, 2025. Fans have until December 31, 2024, to binge-watch the show on the platform one last time.

The series, based on Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire Mysteries novels, follows the life of Sheriff Walt Longmire as he tackles crime in a small Wyoming town. Its compelling narrative has earned it a special place in viewers’ hearts, making its departure from Netflix all the more surprising.

Here’s why Longmire is leaving Netflix

While Netflix has yet to provide an official explanation, the streaming giant is known for dropping even its original content, and Longmire is no exception.

The show originally aired on A&E for its first three seasons before Netflix picked it up for the final three installments. Since its debut on Netflix in September 2015, the platform has treated it as a Netflix Original.

Craig Johnson, the author of the Walt Longmire Mysteries, shared his frustration about the decision on Facebook. He stated, “So, I’m to understand that Netflix is officially dropping Longmire from its lineup at the end of the year even though the show is still alive and well in the ratings. I have to admit that I took a great deal of satisfaction cancelling my Netflix subscription when I got to the box where they asked why and I simply wrote… LONGMIRE.” His candid remarks reflect the sentiments of many fans upset by the removal.

Where will Longmire stream after leaving Netflix?

After departing from Netflix, Longmire will stream on Paramount Plus, which has already secured the series. All six seasons are now available on the platform, making Paramount Plus the new home for the popular neo-Western drama.

Johnson also hinted at the possibility of a revival. He stated that since Paramount Plus has picked up the show, it will be interesting to see if Warner Brothers will “consider reviving the show.”
