Riot Games has announced a League of Legends trading card game titled Project K. They shared a promo video on social media showing the game off explaining how you play.

Game director Dave Guskin and executive producer Chengran Chai gave the audience a preview of the cards coming out, and they clarified that Project K won’t be a physical version of Legends of Runeterra, but said that it “inherits some of the rich champion design philosophies of LoR.”

The card game will also be able to take advantage of shared artwork across different LoL media. Some of the decks featured were Viktor’s deck, and Codie Christie, Director of Growth and Marketing shared: “I’m assembling a lot of very small units and trying to give power spikes.”

Head of Creative Laura DeYoung shared the Volibear deck, saying: “I wouldn’t call this a finesse hand. This is like, how do I go in and just punch everyone in the face?”

Marc Merill offered a look at the Yasuo deck, which he described as “Calm Chaos.”

Then, senior narrative writer Cat Cheresh showed off the Jinx deck, which she said is a “Fury Chaos Tempo aggro deck” that “pretty much just causes as much mayhem as possible.”

Dave said that the creative team believes that they’ve created “the best social TCG” for players to enjoy, “whether your jam is team 2v2 battles or free-for-alls, a way to relax with friends or go all in on alliances, backstabbing and betrayals.”

Cheresh also explained that the deck is very flexible in accommodating casual players, adding a collectible element to the physical TCG.

Chengran Chai talked about how Project K plans to take the TCG and promote these in the local stores—and even organize competitions from the local store level, before scaling up from regional to international competitions.

Riot Games has not announced a release date for Project K, but it will be first released in China, and then distributed across other regions gradually.
