Whitney Cummings was fiery while appearing on CNN‘s New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, taunting the co-hosts.
However, Cohen got the opportunity to make it a little awkward for Cummings, asking her about passing on Sabrina Carpenter for the Roseanne revival in 2018.
“No one passes on Sabrina Carpenter for anything,” Cummings told Cohen before explaining, “She came in and she was not a match for a million reasons.”
Cummings told Cohen, “Of course, you’re going to bring up this drama.”
Carpenter auditioned for the role of Harris Conner Healy, Roseanne’s granddaughter and daughter of Sara Gilbert’s Darlene Conner Healy. The “Please Please Please” singer lost out on the role, a role that eventually went to Emma Kenney.
Carpenter went on to find success in music, and Cummings joked, “I deserve a percentage of her touring money for not hiring her. Otherwise, she would still be on that show. You’re welcome, Sabrina.”

Cummings was one of the executive producers of the Roseanne revival and served as a showrunner. The comedian recently revealed Carpenter had been rejected from the sitcom.
“Sabrina Carpenter auditioned … and it wasn’t the right fit. She got a rejection that day when we were casting the daughter,” Cummings told People. “And by the way, thank God we said no to her because she’d be stuck on a sitcom set and not being Sabrina Carpenter.”
She continued, “I think that we’re still trained in our society to want to win and get a yes. Sometimes a yes is the worst thing you can get, because then you’re stuck on the wrong show for 7 years. You’re in the wrong thing.”
Carpenter auditioned for Roseanne after starring in Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, where she played the role of Maya Hart throughout the show’s three seasons.
