Idris Elba is hoping that one day, he and Keanu Reeves will step back into Night City for a Cyberpunk 2077 film adaptation.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Elba was about whether he would be open to reuniting with Reeves for a film adaptation of the sci-fi game and Elba replied:
“Oh, man, that’s a great question. I think if any film could do a live-action rendition, it could be [ Cyberpunk 2077 ], and I think his character and my character together would be, ‘Whoa.’ So, let’s speak that into existence.”
It would be pretty awesome if Elba and Reeves ended up starring together in a Cyberpunk 2077, as both actors are a part of the franchise and there’s no doubt that fans would love to see them play the live-action versions of the character that play in the games.
Cyberpunk 2077 follows V, a mercenary in the vibrant yet dangerous Night City, who becomes entangled in a high-stakes heist to steal a groundbreaking biochip from the megacorporation Arasaka.
The mission goes off the rails, and the biochip is implanted into V’s head to save their life, but it comes with a catch—it contains the engram (a digital consciousness) of Johnny Silverhand, a rebellious rocker and anti-corporate terrorist who died decades ago.
As Johnny’s personality begins to overwrite V’s mind, the two must navigate a tenuous alliance to uncover a way to separate their fates. Along the way, V interacts with a colorful cast of allies and enemies, explores the seedy underbelly and corporate towers of Night City, and faces moral dilemmas that shape the outcome of their story.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty step back into the role of V, a mercenary entangled in a high-stakes political conspiracy. V is enlisted by the enigmatic FIA agent Solomon Reed (voiced by Idris Elba) to rescue the president of the New United States after her orbital shuttle crashes in Dogtown.
As V navigates the perilous world of covert operations, double-crosses, and cybernetic intrigue, the story dives into themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and betrayal, offering players the chance to shape the narrative through impactful choices.
