U.S. Army Special Ops soldier Matthew Alan Livelsberger has been identified as the driver in the Tesla Cybertruck explosion at the Trump Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, plus it’s reported that Livelsberger also served at the same Army base as the New Orleans New Year’s terror attack driver, U.S. Army veteran Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar.

In addition to both vehicles used in both terror attacks on New Year’s being rented off of the car rental app Turo, it appears both suspects in each of the attacks were also stationed at the same Army base formerly known as Fort Bragg, a massive Army base in North Carolina that is home to multiple Army special operations units.

As we previously shared, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. Army veteran whose most recent address traces back to a white mobile home in Houston, Texas, was identified by the FBI as the driver who rammed a Ford pickup truck into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street in New New Orleans and then exited the truck and opened fire, killing at least 15 people and injuring nearly three dozen.

A U.S. official reported that Shamsud-Din Jabbar left the Army in 2015, but it was not immediately clear if he went into the Reserve after that. However, during his tenure, he served as an information technology specialist.

Across the country in Las Vegas, one person was left dead after a Tesla Cybertruck exploded at the entrance of a Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day, with the incident being investigated as a possible terror attack. Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill said fireworks, gas tanks, and camping fuel were connected to the detonation system controlled by the driver of the Cybertruck.

The driver of the Tesla Cybertruck explosion at the Las Vegas’ Trump Hotel was later identified as Matthew Alan Livelsberger, a 37-year-old active-duty U.S. Army Green Beret based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. According to a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation, Livelsberger was a Special Forces (Special Operations) Master Sergeant, a senior enlisted rank.

It’s also reported that Livelsberger had a self-inflicted gunshot wound when the vehicle exploded. However, it’s unclear if he died from the gunshot or the explosion. Officials found a Desert Eagle .50-caliber semiautomatic pistol near his feet, with a smartwatch, and an iPhone recovered, along with the fireworks, gas tanks, and other flammables.

In a Thursday (January 2) statement, the U.S. Army said Livelsberger had died, though they didn’t say he died in the Vegas explosion. They said, “U.S. Army Special Operations Command can confirm Livelsberger was assigned to the command and on approved leave at the time of his death. USASOC is in full cooperation with federal and state law enforcement agencies, but as a matter of policy, will not comment on ongoing investigations.”

As mentioned, it was later reported that the driver in the Cybertruck explosion outside Las Vegas’ Trump Hotel, US Army Special Ops soldier Matthew Alan Livelsberger, and the driver in the New Orleans New Year’s terror attack, US Army veteran Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, served at the same Army base in North Carolina. However, Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill noted that officials cannot confirm if they served at the same time or same unit.
