Keke Palmer & Issa Rae Speak On ‘One Of Them Days’ & Working With SZA
During the sitdown, Issa Rae and Keke Palmer explained the storyline behind ‘One Of Them Days.’ Per the actors, the film was inspired by the experiences of a friend of Syreeta Singleton. Furthermore, the film largely centers on the effects of gentrification. But focuses on two friends — played by Keke Palmer and SZA — who are “trying to make ends meet.”
While speaking, Palmer reflected on her chemistry with SZA and how that translated on-screen.
“I think maybe we just naturally have a similar vibe,” Palmer explained. “We first met in person on SNL [Saturday Night Live]… after that, we met on the movie and… we just had natural chemistry. I can’t even explain that.”

As for off-screen relationships, Palmer shared that her “craziest” moment of holding a friend down has been stepping to their partner and their partner’s mother. Rae, on the other hand, said she pretended to be a doctor to give a friend’s partner a lil’ medical scare.
