The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast is revealing other times they caught Britani Bateman recording them after Britani came under fire for secretly recording her castmates on last week’s episode of the show. And after the airing, she attempted to defend herself, insisting there was no proof of wrongdoing.
After Angie Katsanevas, 51, called her out amid a ride in a sprinter van in Puerto Vallarta, prompting a gang-up by the rest of the cast, Britani, 53, explained why she was filming as Bronwyn Newport, 39, and Whitney Rose, 38, recalled previous incidents in which they caught her recording. Plus, Heather Gay, 50, and Meredith Marks, 53, also reacted to the betrayal.
“The sprinter, I’m gonna get emotional because that was probably one of the worst experiences of my entire life. I mean, if anyone had any proof that I had done anything to hurt anyone on purpose, that would be one thing. But no one did,” Britani shared on the most recent episode of the RHOSLC: After Show. “Everyone was making the worst assumptions about me.”
According to Britani, she was texting her daughter about a 100 percent she got on her math test when she decided to take a video since others were doing the same.
“I’m like, ‘Oh I should be taking videos. Like, everyone’s taking videos.’ So I started to push record — you know how you can send somebody a direct video — and I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s probably a bad idea.’ So I went to the camera. I started to take a video but it was facing forward so that ended that. And then I switched the camera to me. Then I started to take a video … and all of a sudden, Angie’s over my shoulder [asking], ‘Are you recording us?!’” she shared. “And all of a sudden, everyone’s screaming at me.”
While Britani has insisted that she didn’t intend to film the cast without their knowledge, Wednesday’s episode was reportedly not the only time she was caught exhibiting such behavior.
“Britani can tell me till the day she dies she wasn’t recording us. She was recording us and she had been before that,” Bronwyn stated. “But what is insanely just mind-blowing to me is after the sprinter van, she did record me and I did catch her doing that. We were on little golf carts and she was [recording herself] and I [leaned back] and she goes, ‘It’s just my outfit.’ And I was like okay, and then she starts texting it, and I look over and it is just a video of me. Britani is not even in it whatsoever.”
Then, as Bronwyn suggested that Britani was filming so she’d have “something on all of us,” Whitney revealed that she too had caught Britani taking recordings of the cast.
“I [also] caught her filming earlier. She was filming us walking through the airport and she sent it off to a group of friends,” Whitney shared.
Although Bronwyn acknowledged that some people wouldn’t understand why she and her co-stars were so offended, considering they signed up to be filmed for a reality show, she noted that she “did not consent” to Britani having a recording of her and Lisa Barlow, 50, arguing about her husband Todd Bradley‘s emotional affair.
“That is completely f*cked up that she would be in possession of that material,” Bronwyn explained.
Meanwhile, as Mary Cosby, 52, admitted to feeling “like [Britani] had more” recordings, Heather accused Britani of filming the RHOSLC cast in a “morally superior way.”
“[She was] going, ‘Look at these crazy b*tches,’” she recalled. “She was going to send it to her friends to kind of poke fun at us, to show she was peripheral to the fray, that she wasn’t in the muck with the rest of us, and that is simply insulting and untrue.”
As for Meredith, she’d like to see Britani apologize.
“Own up to it because nobody’s recording the back seat of a velour chair … Obviously there is an intent there. I don’t see her as someone terribly malicious. But it’s still unsettling,” she noted, adding that “the sinister side of it is she’s recording to use it against us in some way, shape, or form.”
“Which is what we’ve experienced in our life before,” Heather replied, giving a nod to Monica Garcia, 40, and her betrayal amid season four.
While the majority of the cast was firm in their disgust with Britani’s recording, Lisa offered grace.
“You let us look through your phone, there was nothing on there, so we looked at text messages with you and Jared, we looked at messages with you and your kids, like, nobody could delete it that fast,” she shared. “For me, I was like, ‘I’m resolved.’ But it’s a lot based on what we’ve experienced … I think we’re all, like, triggered.”
“Which I get,” Britani admitted. “[But] for someone that didn’t watch the show until after we filmed, I seriously, I had no idea.”
