a Texas embalmer has been charged with castrating the corpse of a sex offender after learning the details of his criminal past. The embalmer, Amber Laudermilk, allegedly mutilated the body of Charles Roy Rodriguez, a 58-year-old man convicted of sexual assault. Authorities say this act of postmortem revenge may have crossed serious legal boundaries.

What Triggered the Embalmer’s Violent Outburst?

Background of the Victim and the Accused

According to WGNTV, the body of Charles Roy Rodriguez was delivered to a local Texas mortuary in February after he died of natural causes. Rodriguez had been a registered sex offender for life, following a 2001 conviction for assaulting a 31-year-old woman.

Court records reveal that embalmer Amber Laudermilk, upon learning of Rodriguez’s criminal background, allegedly snapped. Witnesses claim that she took a scalpel to his body, stabbed him twice in the groin, and cut off his genitals—then forced them into the corpse’s mouth.

Legal Ramifications: Abuse of a Corpse Under Texas Law

Authorities Respond to the Shocking Allegations

Following the incident, Precinct One Constable Alan Rosen issued a public statement condemning the actions. “This case is about two troubled people: the victim who was a registered sex offender, and the defendant, who is accused of viciously attacking his dead body,” he said.

Rosen also stressed that even the deceased must be treated with dignity, regardless of the crimes they committed in life. That’s not just ethical—it’s required by Texas law. Laudermilk was officially charged with abuse of a corpse and was released on a $5,000 bond. If convicted, she could face jail time, fines, and loss of her professional license.
