SPOILER ALERT: This post contains details of the final episode of Max‘s Beleza Fatal.

After 40 episodes, Beleza Fatal (Scars of Beauty) ended, and viewers finally found out what happened to Lola (Camila Pitanga), Sofía (Camila Queiroz), and Elvirinha (Giovanna Antonelli).

Max Brazil’s first telenovela didn’t have a happy ending for its lead characters, as is customary in the genre.

The lead question in the episode was about who killed Benjamin Argentino (Caio Blat). A woman with a head scarf and oversized shades ended Benjamin’s life, and all signs pointed to Lola. However, she denied being the culprit of the murder and was visibly devastated over her husband’s death.

Before viewers find out who killed Benjamin, we find out what happens to the rest of the characters.

With Benjamin’s death, Gisela (Julia Stockler) and Carol (Manu Morelli) inherit the Argento hospital and rename it after Carol’s mother and Gisela’s sister, Marcia Argento.

Carol’s father, Tomás, proposes to Andrea (Kiara Felippe), and they finally live their lives openly — getting married.

Sofía is alone after she rejects her adoptive parents in favor of her revenge. When she visits Elvirinha and Lino (Augusto Madeira), they are not in a place of forgiveness as Sofia doesn’t seem to be remorseful for denying them as their parents and asks her to leave. Gabriel (Enzo Romaní) also rejects Sofia as he feels used and doesn’t feel she is authentic.

Although the Paixão family misses Sofia, they move on. At one of their neighborhood parties, Carol announces she is pregnant and will have a girl with Eilvirinha and Lino’s son Alec (Breno Ferreira). The couple names their future daughter Rebecca after Elvirinha and Lino’s daughter.

Police get ahold of surveillance footage from the Argento hospital, which shows a woman who looks like Lola was the one who killed Benjamin. Lola makes a run after finding out police are about to apprehend her.

Later that night, Lola visits LolaLand, where Sofia is, and tries to kill her. Lola locks Sofia in her office and lights the building on fire. Sofia calls Gabriel, telling her Lola was trying to kill her. Gabriel arrives at LolaLand and saves Sofia from the burning building. Lola is arrested and taken to jail.

Lola goes on trial and is sentenced to over 30 years in jail.

Sofia visits Lola in jail and confesses to being the one who killed Benjamin and framed her for his murder, finally making her pay for what she did to her mother.

“You won Sofia. Congratulations,” Lola tells Sofia. “And now? Are you on top? Are you happy? You’re alone, my love. Where is Gabriel? Where’s your little suburban family? I feel so sorry for you. Was it worth it?”

Lola continues, “I am a prisoner here. But you’re my prisoner. You know why? Because you don’t exist without me, my love. I’ve already fallen many times. I always got back up. I will get back up again, my love.”

“You won’t,” Sofia says. “This won’t you won’t make it. You will rot in this place. You’ll waste away here … And you’ll always remember my mother in jail for a crime she didn’t commit.”

Lola tries to strangle Sofia, but security pulls her away and takes her to solitary confinement.

“See you in hell, you demon!” Lola says in the end.

As Sofia walks away from the facility, she sees a little girl outside who reminds her of herself. Lola’s words continue to play in Sofia’s head, making her question if she’s happy after fulfilling her revenge.
