Lil Wayne insists he was clueless about Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s epic 2024 rap battle, which led to an awkward moment last year.

Lil Wayne Admits He Wasn’t Tuned in to Drake and Kendrick Battle

On Thursday (April 18), Rolling Stone debuted its latest cover story, which features Tunechi opening up about his upcoming Tha Carter VI album, the perceived Super Bowl snub and more. The reclusive rapper also admitted he didn’t pay attention to Drizzy and K-Dot’s rap feud that had the internet going nuts in 2024.

“I’m going to give you the perfect example,” Wayne said. “I went onstage and I was singing this song, and they thought I was dissing.”

Wayne was referencing the time last July, when he sang the chorus to “Not Like Us” before spinning off into “The Motto” during a performance in Las Vegas.

“I ain’t want my dude to be mad at me,” Wayne continued. “I didn’t even know it was Kendrick…If it don’t happen on this channel or FS1, I wouldn’t know that happened,” he added.

Further proving Wayne’s isolated nature or bad memory, the Louisiana rapper revealed later in the interview he had no clue that Jay-Z and Ye released the joint album Watch The Throne in 2011.

“They did an album?” Wayne questioned when the project was mentioned.

The Carter VI Updates

It finally appears that Wayne is real about dropping his long-awaited Tha Carter VI album. After announcing earlier this year that the project would drop on June 6, he has also revealed feature artists on the project, which include Machine Gun Kelly, Wyclef, Billy Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Bono and others. It will be Wayne’s first album since 2020’s Funeral.
