Many of Young Buck’s loyal supporters showed up outside a Tennessee courthouse yesterday to protest police corruption and stand up for his rights while he’s currently serving a 30-day jail sentence.

Protestors Decry Jail Time for Young Buck

On Wednesday (April 23), men and women gathered outside the Sumner County Courthouse in Sumner County, Tenn. to fight against what they perceive to be alleged political and police corruption aimed at Young Buck. The rapper is behind bars for violating his bond supervision. Local news outlet WKRN captured video of the protest, which included signs reading “We Demand Police Reform” and a banner decorated with “Free Buck” and a picture of his face.

Kimberly Cassetty, one of the protestors, wants the corruption to come to an end. “I hope the group gets bigger, obviously, and I hope they start weeding out these corrupt police, judges, DAs, all of it,” she said.

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office was aware of the protest for Young Buck, to which they issued this statement: “Our office remains committed to ensuring the public safety while safeguarding the constitutional rights of every citizen.”

On April 7, Young Buck, 44, was arrested for contempt of court in Sumner County and sentenced to 30 days in the county jail ahead of his upcoming trial on July 24. He apparently missed previous bond meetings, which caused the judge to determine he made repeated violations of his bond supervision. Once the rapper does his time, the judge will issue a new bond. His trial will be to face the charges of domestic assault and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

The bond supervision stems from Buck’s 2020 arrest on charges of domestic assault, vandalism over $10,000 and felon in possession of a firearm. He was involved in a domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend, Lucresia Neal. Buck was accused of allegedly destroying property and grabbing Neal in an effort to throw her to the ground. Neal, who reportedly shot a gun at Buck, was later arrested for reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Two years later, Buck was arrested again after he reportedly vandalized the same woman’s car.

A representative for Young Buck released this statement following his initial jail sentence, in which they proclaimed his innocence and made mention of the protest that occurred this week. The statement has been edited due to its length.

“Although Buck is innocent and he was in fact the victim in this case, he has been presumed guilty by the color of his skin, his past, his genre of music and his image as an entertainer,” the statement read. “In 2020, David Brown, also known by his stage name, Young Buck, was leaving a relationship with a female who he was the sole provider for so needless to say she was furious that her gravy train was ending and in fact she was so furious that she retrieved her gun registered to her from her safe and proceeded to unload a clip in an open community in an effort to end Buck’s life. Subsequently she was arrested and charged….

I shared Buck’s story on my Instagram page where I have over 1 million followers therefore the video was seen by hundreds of thousands of viewers. In the aftermath of my post I have received over 50 messages of heartbreaking stories of political corruption, malicious prosecution, wrongful arrests, excessive force and police brutality. One of those messages consisted of an attorney fighting for one of her clients who experienced police brutality and was hospitalized for her horrible injuries. Subsequently that attorney had drugs planted in her car and arrested and could no longer stay on the young lady’s case.

In my 20 years in the Bail Bond industry I have witnessed my clients experience injustices however Summer County is the most corrupt, racist system that I have ever encountered and story after story of injustices keep pouring in.

It’s my understanding that the people are sick and tired of the corruption and hundreds of people are coming together to protest in front of the Sumner County Courthouse this month. Many civil rights advocates, activists and attorneys are involved so I’m sure many civil rights lawsuits will be filed in the near future.”

Countdown to 50 Cent chiming in on all these people who really did show up for Buck.
