Nelly is back in the spotlight for his association with Donald Trump. This time, he’s not performing at any event for the president but grading HIS performance. That’s because this week marks 100 days since the Trump administration began running the country. Will social media drag Nelly again? Here’s what he said, and the reactions are popping off so far!

Nelly Says THIS About Donald’s First 100 Days
To cut to the chase, TMZ caught up with Nelly, and the artist preached about unity when questioned about Trump’s first 100 days.
“I’m all for everybody staying positive about any and everything. You know what I’m saying? I’m a glass-half-full type of guy, and I just am more empowered in bringing people together and making sure we all get what we need, when we need it and why we need it,” Nelly said.
It’s unclear what “positive” elements Nelly wants folks to focus on regarding Trump’s administration and its latest power moves, from a 145% tariff on China, to about 280,000 federal jobs cut, and the dismantling of the Department of Education.

Singer’s History With The President
As mentioned, Trump and Nelly have previously been in the same headline. That happened when Nelly accepted a gig to perform at the president’s inaugural ball in January. That did not go over well with social media users, and even fans, who saw the performance as low-key support for the president. Ahead of taking the stage for Trump, Nelly clarified where he stood on it:
“It’s not political for me. For me, the political part is over. He won, and growing up, I was taught to respect the office, so Nelly’s here,” the singer said.
It was weeks before social media let the inaugural performance go, and even now, seeing Nelly and Trump in the same sentence sets some users off. Such is the case under The Shade Room Instagram’s repost of Nelly speaking on the presidency to date. Over 6,000 rommates let their thoughts fly about the artist sparing the country’s leader.

Inflation has been falling since a peak of 9.1% in 2022. It was at 3% in January, the month Trump was inaugurated, and 2.4% in March. “We already solved inflation,” Trump said. However, the Federal Reserve warned that the president’s tariff plans would most likely lead to higher prices by taxing foreign imports. In addition, it’s unlikely Trump will manage to “pay off all our debt.” His plans for tax cuts would reduce revenue to cover the country’s bills. Besides, he made a similar pledge in 2016, and then the national debt ballooned during his first presidency.

Trump has made progress on a signature promise to control the border. The number of people trying to cross illegally into the U.S. from Mexico dropped steeply in President Joe Biden’s first year, from a high of 249,740 in December 2023 to 47,324 in December 2024. Under Trump, the numbers sank to only 8,346 in February and 7,181 in March. It’s unclear whether Trump is matching Biden’s aggressive deportation record last year. The numbers are not yet in.
At rally after rally last summer, Donald Trump promised peace between Russia and Ukraine merely by winning the election.
“Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, shortly after I win the presidency, I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled,” he told a National Guard Association conference in Detroit in August.
By then, he’d been making the same vow since May. It did not happen. He sometimes framed the promise differently, saying he would end the war in one day. That day has not come. Additionally, since the end of a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas War in March, more than 2,000 Palestinians have died.
