Kelly Clarkson’s Weight Loss Comments Sparks NBC Meltdown

Kelly Clarkson’s weight loss transformation stunned fans, but her blunt remarks about it are now causing internal drama at NBC.

After clashing with human resources over what she sees as harmless compliments, Clarkson is reportedly at odds with her talk show staff.

This has raised questions about her future on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and fueled speculation about a possible replacement.

While performing at the Etess Arena in Atlantic City, Clarkson candidly addressed the challenges she faces with human resources at NBC.

After a fan shouted that she looked “sexy,” the singer opened up about the frustration she feels at having to censor herself in the workplace.

“Every time I go to an HR meeting, I’m like, ‘How have I not been fired?’… they say you’re not allowed to say someone looks attractive, and I say f-ck that,” she declared per the Daily Mail.

She continued, “Because some of those b-tches are out here working, and we’re trying, and I want every motherf-cker that passes me to go, ‘Damn. Well done.’”

Clarkson also recounted being reprimanded by HR after she complimented someone’s transformation.

“They were like, ‘Well, it might make people feel bad that they looked bad before.’ I was fat before, so I’m saying I want you to say, ‘Damn,’” she told the audience.

Despite her attempts to share her personal struggles and victories, a source close to the show told the Daily Mail that Clarkson’s comments caused serious emotional fallout behind the scenes.

“Kelly Clarkson is ungrateful, and she fails to recognize how her staff uprooted their lives in Los Angeles and left their homes to relocate to New York because they believed in her and they loved working for her,” the insider said.

That sense of betrayal reportedly deepened as Clarkson hinted she might not renew her contract with NBC when it ends next year.

Her extended absence from the show in March, which was cited as a personal matter, sparked rumors that she was preparing to leave entirely.

The insider further criticized Clarkson’s timing and tone, saying, “For her to abandon her own show and then come out months later and say that she did not agree with the way that HR handled comments she made about weight is incredibly disrespectful.”

Clarkson has also made no secret about the toll her daytime television role has taken on her music career.

While on stage in Atlantic City, she admitted that hosting “The Kelly Clarkson Show” has kept her off the road.

“It’s like a whole other job,” she said, according to Page Six. “We are bummed ’cause we love doing shows, and it’s hard to fit it in, so it’s cool when it does work out with the schedule.”

In addition to work, Clarkson is balancing life as a single mom to daughter River, 10, and son Remy, 9, whom she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. The couple divorced in 2022 after seven years of marriage.

Kelly Clarkson’s physical transformation didn’t go unnoticed by fans, and she eventually addressed it openly. During an episode of her show in May 2024, she admitted to using a weight loss drug.

“My doctor chased me for like two years and I was like, ‘No, I’m afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems, I was afraid,’” Clarkson said, explaining her initial reluctance.

She clarified, “The medication I take is something that aids in helping break down the sugar, because my body doesn’t do it right.” She firmly denied using Ozempic, saying, “Everybody thinks it’s Ozempic, it’s not, it’s something else.”

A source previously told the Daily Mail that Clarkson only chose to reveal the truth after realizing she could no longer “dupe” fans with claims of just healthy eating and exercise.

“Kelly’s appeal was that she was relatable. She made people laugh and she made people feel good about themselves. She has struggled with weight loss and it was a big part of her story,” the source said. “But suddenly she loses all her weight in a short period of time and now it feels like she is focused solely on her image. Kelly has caused heartbreak among staff.”

According to Page Six, “Today” show veteran Hoda Kotb is being considered as a potential successor.

“There’s a long list of names and Hoda is part of that list,” a source told the outlet.

Kotb, 60, left her morning news role after a 26-year career with NBC. However, her popularity and network history make her a strong contender should “The Kelly Clarkson Show” need a new host.

Whether Clarkson will return or bow out remains to be seen, but the reported backstage turmoil suggests big changes could be coming soon.
