Emma Stone & Poor Things Director’s Bugonia Movie Sets Streaming Release Date

A brand new How to Train Your Dragon clip has arrived online for Universal Pictures‘ long-awaited live-action adaptation of DreamWorks Animation’s beloved fantasy franchise. The movie is currently slated to arrive in theaters on June 13, 2025.

“On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast, Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society,” reads the official synopsis.

“With the fierce and ambitious Astrid and the village’s quirky blacksmith Gobber by his side, Hiccup confronts a world torn by fear and misunderstanding. As an ancient threat emerges, endangering both Vikings and dragons, Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future. Together, they must navigate the delicate path toward peace, soaring beyond the boundaries of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.”

It features one of Hiccup and Toothless’ most endearing moments, showing Hiccup trying to feed the adorable Night Fury dragon raw fish. The movie will also feature the return of franchise star Gerard Butler as he reprises his role as Hiccup’s father, Stoick the Vast, from the animated movies.

The live-action How to Train Your Dragon movie is written, directed, and produced by Oscar nominee Dean DeBlois, based on Cressida Cowell’s children’s book series of the same name. The ensemble cast includes Nico Parker as Astrid, Nick Frost as Gobber the Belch, Julian Dennison as Fishlegs, Gabriel Howell as Snotlout, Browyn James as Ruffnut, and Harry Trevaldwyn as Tuffnut. Additional cast members include Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur. It is also produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, with David Cain and Michael A. Connolly executive producing.
