According to Jasmine, Janet gives off “Karen energy” and that pretty much sums up this episode of The Valley. Janet and Jason are seething over the rumor that they *think* Jasmine started, but Jasmine sees it differently. In fact, she is refusing to take the blame for this debacle, much like Jax is refusing to take the blame for his current situation. Instead, he puts the onus on Brittany, stating she let him be awful for so long so he didn’t see her slipping away. This is a real trip…
Scheana’s “famous enchiladas” are back on our screens (oh, and so is Scheana). She is hosting a group at her house and when Brittany arrives, she appears to be in a numb state after learning about Jax’s new lease. Brittany is stuck in a rental home for two and half more months, leaving her in a really sh*tty situation.
But Brittany is not just dealing with Jax issues. Zack is annoyed with Brittany because he feels as though she always takes everyone else’s side. When Zack was talking crap about Jared, Brittany defended Jared, leaving Zack to wonder where he fits in her life nowadays. Zack even went as far as texting Brittany that she is a bad friend. Brittany knows Zack so well, so now that things are different with their friend dynamic, it clearly needs to be addressed.
Jason joins in for some girl talk and Janet sees this as the perfect opportunity to explain the rumor Kristen and Jasmine brought back to life. It has been said that apparently Jason takes his wedding ring off when he goes out. Jason vehemently denies this and Janet is both “impressed and annoyed” at how good Kristen is for making distractions. I mean, people are no longer talking about Danny going to bars and drinking too much, so I guess she’s right.
Janet goes on to explain that at first she laughed the rumor off with Jason, but as they sat with the lie, they became more and more frustrated with Jasmine -more so than Kristen- because the couple thought of Jasmine as a friend.
A beach picnic sounds like a great idea considering the tension between the “friends.” But alas, they head out, Janet brings her metal detector, and makes snarky comments about hunting for Jason’s wedding ring. This, of course, does not sit well with Jasmine, but Brittany remains blind to Janet’s drama starting ways.
Jasmine is perplexed why this is becoming a thing since Janet appeared fine with the rumor when it was first brought to her attention. Now things are spiraling and Kristen makes it clear that so long as Janet stops talking about Danny and Nia, this will all stop.
As they sit bundled on the beach, things are a bit…awkward. Jasmine is not planning on giving Janet and Jason an apology and Brittany shares that she is taking a step forward in her new future: she has a date later in the night.
Brittany suggests that they play truth or dare and we learn some sexual things about Scheana and Michelle that I will spare you from. As the game goes on, Jasmine becomes increasingly agitated by Janet and her comments. Janet and Jason don’t think THEY should be the ones initiating the conversation, yet they form a united front and confront Jasmine about the infamous rumor.
Jasmine tries to explain her side of things only to continuously get interrupted by Janet. When Jasmine attempts to talk directly to Jason about hearing this about him two years ago, she loses it on Janet, calling her a “sh*tty a*s friend, vibe killer, exhausting, you give Karen energy.” Jasmine is so done with it.
An aghast Jason claims that Jasmine broke his heart since it seems like Jasmine despises Janet and has hated her for a long time. Jason calls Jasmine two-faced and he is hurt because he invested time and energy in his friendship with her. He even refers to Jasmine as a snake in the grass.
After Janet and Jason leave, Jasmine still doesn’t stop. She feels like Janet manipulates her and that Janet won’t allow Jason to have a one on one conversation with her. Jasmine is upset because she never had issues with Jason before and she feels like Jason is whipped by Janet.
Later, Kristen, Zack, Nia, and Brittany meet to debrief. While Zack, Jesse, Nia, and Danny played outdoor games, the rest of the crew was brawling at the beach and Brittany talks about her hot date.
Kristen and Brittany unpack the beach drama and Zack finds it comical that Janet and Jason are making this rumor a big deal when they laughed it off earlier. It’s also weird that they think Jasmine made up the whole rumor. Zack points out that Janet doesn’t let Jason off his leash, so how can he cheat?
Zack takes this opportunity to talk to Brittany about his recent feelings. He is upset with her because she hasn’t stuck up for him and he worries that people like Jared and Janet are coming between their friendship. According to Zack, Brittany has changed.
Danny and Nia are heading out for a lymphatic drainage massage to relieve toxins from their body, which is great considering how toxic things have been lately. Nia discusses an imminent future of having four kids under four, but Danny is more fixated on getting a big enough house for their “17” children.
Over at Janet and Jason’s, they discuss how upset they have been over this beach ordeal. Jason feels like Jasmine spoke to Janet as if she was “the scum of the earth,” and Janet feels like she was dumped by Jasmine.
Jason returns (five) facetime call(s) from Jax who puts on how much he has been working on where his anger is coming from. Jax admits that he pushed Brittany away and he did not even realize he was doing it. He claims to know that his behavior is unacceptable and wonders why Brittany let him get away with his crummy behavior for so long (WHAT). Jason lets Jax know that the mortgage situation is stressing Brittany out, but Jax seems to have an answer to that: he will give Brittany the podcast money until he pays off what he owes. And stupidly, Jason feels like Jas has had an epiphany.
This Jax is a far cry from the one in the final scene, though. Brittany and her mom are over at *the* house, covering the cameras so that Jax can’t spy on her now that she is moving back in full time. However, as Brittany facetimes Jax’s sister, production runs on screen to let her know that Jax texted and he has seemingly heard her convo. Does that mean he bugged the house? Jax’s sister phones Brittany again to let her know that Jax is heading to the hospital because his blood pressure is super high.
Brittany is angry and upset and finds that Jax has written her a long email. In it, Jax states that the house is in foreclosure and that Brittany is responsible for the mortgage until they sell the house. So much for getting the podcast cash flow. And so much for becoming that changed man, huh?
