Alexia Nepola is offering an update on where she stands with her ex-husband, Todd Nepola.
As she addressed the ongoing feud between Julia Lemigova, 53, and Guerdy Abraira, 47, shaded Stephanie Shojaee, 40, and called out Todd, 52, over his false narrative about their split, the 58-year-old Real Housewives of Miami star explained why she continued to hook up with Todd post-divorce and weighed in on his reasoning for their breakup.
“Currently, we are not talking. We are in no contact,” Alexia confirmed during a July 24 interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I had to choose me. I had to do what was best for me right now, and for me right now, I need peace and I need distance and I need clarity. It’s really hard watching the show, reliving the show after we filmed this over a year ago.”
As for why she went back to Todd after their split, Alexia admitted there were a lot of reasons, including love and closure.
“[But] along my journey I’ve realized that the only person that can give herself closure is myself, and peace, and healing, so, just walking away for me has been the best thing because I’m healing at the same time,” she explained.
As she heals, Alexia said she’s still trying to understand why Todd filed for divorce in the first place. However, she does believe that Todd wanted to distance himself from RHOM.
“I wish it would’ve been handled differently. We could’ve had the conversation and sat down like two mature, loving adults, and said, ‘You know what? I’m not happy, and this is what you want.’ And I would’ve supported it. Of course, you fight for it not happening, or you do interventions. But I wasn’t expecting [him to file],” she noted. “I was so blindsided.”
Moving on to Julia’s behavior toward Guerdy, specifically her water toss, Alexia admitted to having regrets about not doing more.
“I wish I would’ve said something, I would’ve done more, I would have stood up for that because my intentions were never not to defend her or for her to feel like we weren’t supporting her,” she said of Guerdy. “It crossed a line. Nobody should be disrespected that way … And I think because we were in such shock, we didn’t really act properly, like we should have … I feel terrible.”
In addition to fans seeing more of the drama between Julia and Guerdy play out, Alexia also signaled her feud with Stephanie.
“She continues to come for me,” Alexia shared.
According to Alexia, her life is much different than that of her castmates due to her son Frankie’s disabilities, which stem from a horrific car accident years ago.
“As soon as I wake up, my life is different … Just leaving him behind, I have to make so much preparation when I travel … I love a Birkin bag and I have a few of them, but this is not my whole life. She wakes up in the morning and does glam. I wake up in the morning and give Frankie his medication and make him breakfast,” she noted. “I do all the other stuff she does also, but I’m just saying, our lives are very different.”
While Todd has suggested that he had to walk away from his marriage to Alexia because of the show, Alexia denied that was true.
“I’m not going to let him get away with that narrative and with that story, as far as the show destroyed us, because it’s not true,” she insisted. “I’ve always lived my truth. I was living my truth by what you’re seeing on TV. One day it was good, one day it was bad, it was hot, it was cold. It was an emotional rollercoaster.”
Although Alexia confessed to seeing signs that her marriage was in trouble, she said she chose not to see them because she’s someone who is filled with hope and a fighter.
“But from that to just walking out on me like that, I never saw that coming,” she clarified.
As for whether she still loved Todd, Alexia said she did.
“I still love him, and I want to see him happy. I still care about him. I don’t know how to not love him. I’m a person that I love all the men that I’ve loved, and all the people that I loved. I don’t know how to not love somebody once I love them,” she explained.
Also during the interview, after confirming she always wanted to work things out with Todd and gave him the opportunity to change, Alexia admitted that reliving hard moments through the show pushed them back to where they were before.
She then shared that she “of course” hopes to find love again.
“I love love. I’m in love with love, and maybe that’s why I’ve had three husbands. So I’m always gonna be open to the idea of falling in love. I don’t know about marriage. I’ve made a lot of great decisions about love, and I’ve made a lot of not-so-smart decisions, but to me, my life would not be complete without love and without a partner,” she concluded.
