Dave Franco is sharing how his Superbad role turned into one of his most embarrassing moments, on and off screen, and actually pushed him to keep auditioning.

In the 2007 buddy comedy starring Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, Franco makes a small appearance as Greg the Soccer Player, one of his first onscreen roles. In one of his scenes, Hill’s Seth calls out his character for peeing his pants years prior.

Not only was it an embarrassing scene, Franco revealed during a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast that it also led to a lot of embarrassing fan interactions in public, with people quoting the lines.

“I had a journey with that scene in and of itself, where I only have a few lines in this movie, but the movie was so big that people did recognize me on the street,” the Together actor explained to host Alex Cooper. “And they were yelling at me, ‘Why don’t you go piss your pants again?’”

However, Franco leveraged those awkward moments as motivation to keep auditioning so that his legacy as an actor wouldn’t be that one Superbad scene. “I quickly realized, ‘I gotta keep working and get more jobs, so I’m not piss boy for the rest of my life,’” the actor said.

Franco went on to star in dozens of more films, including 21 Jump Street, Now You See Me, Neighbors, Now You See Me 2, Nerve, Love Lies Bleeding and, most recently, Together, alongside his wife, Alison Brie.

Superbad follows two co-dependent high school seniors who are forced to deal with separation anxiety after their plan to stage a booze-soaked party goes awry.
