Kameron Westcott is headed to court for the upcoming trial hearing of a case pertaining to her terminally ill father-in-law Carl Westcott‘s former $15 million home in Santa Barbara, California.
Nearly two years after Katy Perry, 40, scored a legal win against Carl, 85, and was given the keys to the eight-bedroom, nine-bathroom estate, despite the businessman’s suggestion that the sale was made during a time when he was under the influence of prescribed pain medication, the 42-year-old Real Housewives of Dallas alum confirmed she would be present during Katy’s testimony against her family later this month.
“We want to face Katy Perry in court after all our family has been through. We’ll continue to fight for Carl. Not everyone who can carry a tune deserves an applause,” Kameron told Us Weekly on August 5.
During the upcoming hearing, Katy, who Rolling Stone reported will appear via Zoom, will take questions from Carl’s legal team about supposedly renting the property to actor Chris Pratt, 46, and about whether she lived in the home with her now-estranged husband, Orlando Bloom, 48. Katy will also be asked about her suggestion that there were millions in damages done to the home after she bought it, but before she moved in.
As RHOD fans may recall, Carl sued Katy’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi, in 2020, claiming the agreement for Katy to buy the home was made when he was impaired. In response, Katy’s team denied he was taken advantage of, pointing out that he was present when they made the deal and had also engaged with other potential buyers. They even filed a $6 million lawsuit against him for the repairs they said the home needed.
In recently filed court documents, Carl’s team confirmed they would be calling his son, Court Westcott, 46, to testify about the state of the home before and after Carl moved into an in-patient care for Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia and “on the style of his father’s practices concerning the condition he kept all his houses in.”
Carl previously attempted to call Orlando to the stand, but was denied.
“Orlando Bloom will not be required to appear at trial. Westcott has not identified any specific facts on which he needs Mr. Bloom’s testimony,” an August 1 court order confirmed.
While Carl’s legal team felt that Orlando would be able to provide important information about the case, Katy’s team suggested that his request came at a suspicious time.
The hearing is set to take place on August 21.
