Developer and Publisher IllFonic and co-publisher Gun Interactive revealed an upcoming, new Halloween video game, allowing players to play out the iconic 1978 film.
What’s the new Halloween video game about?
Halloween is described as an asymmetric stealth horror game, and will feature both single and multiplayer modes, and will allow players to take on the role of the iconic horror legend Michael Myers. The game is being made in partnership with Compass International Pictures and Further Front, and is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2026, and was officially revealed at the Future Game Show during Gamescom.
The trailer for the game shows Haddonfield, the setting for the game and 1978 movie, as Laurie Strode runs out of a house. Shortly after leaving another house, Strode and someone else are pursued by Michael Myers. Check out the trailer below:
According to IllFonic’s announcement for the game, players can take on the role of Myers as he stalks his way through Haddonfield, or play as one of the Haddonfield locals, and try and disrupt his plans. IllFonic describes the game as a “1 vs. many experience” that will feature “masterfully recreated locations and ambiance from Halloween.”
“Stick to the shadows as Civilians, seeking out Haddonfield residents to warn them and searching for a way to contact the authorities,” reads the game’s official description. “As Michael Myers, give them a reason to 2fear the dark and cut the phone lines to prevent the police from ruining his favorite holiday. Whether playing solo in story mode, against bots offline, or facing others in online multiplayer, each mode rewards stealth, strategy, and skillful play.”
