If you’re still haunted by the messy gap between Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, a group of dedicated fans created and released a horror film to fill in the blanks.
It’s called Halloween Aftermath, and it’s a full-length, two-hour fan-made feature that dives into the unseen years between the two movies from David Gordon Green’s trilogy.
Directed by James Grim and written by Cole Tatham, Halloween Aftermath expands on the Halloween mythology while staying true to the tone and spirit of the modern films.
The movie centers on a survivor from the events of the 2018 Halloween reboot and explores how life (and death) continued in Haddonfield after Michael Myers’ last rampage.
Grim told Bloody Disgusting: “Our goal with this movie is to create a deep, thoughtful character study, very much in line with what this timeline has already established in the main films, but with our own twist on things. Consistency and authenticity are key driving points on this project.”
That approach makes Aftermath sound like a love letter to the franchise rather than a cheap imitation. What’s even more impressive is that it’s completely free to watch on YouTube. According to the filmmakers, “No single individual or entity involved has, nor will they ever, profit from this film’s distribution, it is made purely out of love for the franchise.”
The film has already pulled in over 250,000 views on YouTube and continues to climb. The creative team behind Aftermath aren’t new to this kind of passion project either as they previously made My Special Boy: A Friday the 13th Fan Film and are currently developing Scream Descent: A Scream Fan Film.
While Halloween Ends wrapped up the official story in a divisive way, Halloween Aftermath gives fans something fresh to sink their knives into—a bridge that honors the timeline and the tone while exploring new corners of the Halloween universe.
