Is Kang the Conqueror the key to Avengers: Doomsday? A rumor suggests that the villain may play a pivotal role in the upcoming crossover film.
While many fans didn’t think about it in the moment, it’s truly insane how Avengers: Doomsday came to light. The decisions of one actor, Jonathan Majors, completely changed the course of one of the biggest franchises in cinematic history. Not only did the capstone for the Multiverse Saga need to be rewritten, but Kang the Conqueror himself was all-but scrubbed from their plans.
At least, that’s how it seemed from the outside. But it seems the rumor mill may have some conflicting information. According to a report from Alex Perez at the Cosmic Circus, Kang the Conqueror is actually tied into why the MCU is experiencing incursions, with the character being called the “original sin”. This suggests that, even if he’s not present, the character will have a major role in the storyline of Avengers: Doomsday.
Kang’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
This rumor actually conflicts with past reports about the incursions. Instead of Kang the Conqueror, it was widely reported that Steve Rogers would actually be the part responsible for universes colliding in Avengers: Doomsday. Though, given Alex Perez describes the character as the “original sin”, it’s possible that he was the cause but not the catalyst.
Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how Avengers: Doomsday handles Kang the Conqueror if this rumor is true. While Jonathan Majors has been on an apology tour recently, it’s likely that Disney wants to risk the hot water of bringing him back after a strong of controversial decisions from the company, such as briefly suspending Jimmy Kimmel and planning to introduce short-form AI content onto Disney Plus.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
