Maybelline is officially stepping into the holiday movie season, and they brought two fan-favorite co-stars with them. Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan, who stole hearts in one of last year’s biggest festive films, have reunited for “Maybe This Christmas,” a five-part microdrama blending classic holiday romance with a playful beauty-themed twist. The series, which debuted this week, taps into the booming popularity of bite-sized storytelling while spotlighting one of Maybelline’s most beloved products: the Instant Eraser Concealer, widely praised as a “holy grail” brightening formula.

Told over five cinematic, fast-moving episodes, “Maybe This Christmas” follows two neighbors whose holiday flirtation begins through the windows of their New York City apartments. What starts cute, cozy, and Hallmark-coded quickly spirals into something deeper.

“This holiday season, she’s concealing something, and he really loves hot cocoa,” the voiceover said in the trailer below. Then Chabert chimes in, “Maybe this Christmas will be different. Maybe, just maybe, I can conceal who I really am.”

Their sweet winter romance becomes tangled in questions of illusion, trust, and what people choose to hide, leaving viewers to wonder whether Lacey is concealing more than just dark circles under her eyes. The microdrama format allows the story to feel bingeable, stylish, and perfectly timed for holiday scroll culture.

Maybelline Blends Beauty And Storytelling With Instant Eraser At The Heart Of The Microdrama

Maybelline describes the project as a fresh, festive way to merge beauty with entertainment. By weaving Instant Eraser naturally into the narrative, the brand brings the cult-favorite concealer into the spotlight without disrupting the story’s charm or chemistry between the reunited leads.

The Instant Eraser formula is known for its brightening, hydrating texture, medium-to-full buildable coverage, and skin-like finish, qualities that made it the perfect product tie-in for a story literally themed around “what we choose to conceal.” The concealer is crease-resistant, non-comedogenic, and lasts up to 12 hours, making it one of the brand’s most viral multitasking favorites.

Fans of Chabert and Milligan’s last holiday project have been loudly celebrating the unexpected reunion. Their onscreen chemistry, part cozy charm, part rom-com tension, was a major part of what made their original pairing a holiday hit. “Maybe This Christmas” lets them lean into that dynamic again, this time in a cleverly compact format designed for YouTube, TikTok, and ReelShort.

The microdrama was created with Ryan Reynolds’ production company, Maximum Effort, which is known for its witty, self-aware approach to ads and branded storytelling.

Lacey Chabert Says The Project Is A ‘Wink’ To The Holiday Genre

For Lacey Chabert, returning to holiday storytelling felt as natural as slipping into a cozy Christmas sweater. “Everyone knows I love telling holiday stories so much, it’s such a huge part of my life,” the actress told PEOPLE. “This is a fun little wink to the genre. It’s light and whimsical, and I love that it has a cheeky twist.”

Reuniting with Dustin Milligan for the microdrama was an easy “yes” for Chabert, especially since the project centers around Maybelline’s Instant Eraser Concealer, a product she says she’s “used for years.”

“The chance to collaborate on a product that I actually love and then to do that with Dustin was really just a dream,” she shared. Their reunion felt extra special coming off their hit film Hot Frosty. “I had such a lovely time with him on ‘Hot Frosty’ last year, and this was such a fun way to tell a holiday story in a new format and to get to be together for a day on set.”

Milligan also weighed in, telling PEOPLE, “You don’t need me to say the words ‘Queen of Christmas,’ but I will, and I did.’ Any opportunity where you get to reunite with somebody that you enjoyed working with and actually had an element of joy in the work process, it’s so rare. But then to have that paired with actually doing something and telling a story wherein you get to play with some of the narrative expectations to then land on that twist at the end, to me personally, just selfishly, that brings me even more joy.”

All five episodes of “Maybe This Christmas,” plus the full trailer, are now available on Maybelline’s YouTube channel, Maybelline’s TikTok, and ReelShort (beginning December 2).

With its glowy vibes, wink-and-nod mystery, and star-powered reunion, “Maybe This Christmas” feels poised to become one of the season’s most viral mini-movies, and it may just convince viewers to add an Instant Eraser Concealer to their carts before the credits roll.
