Bronwyn has decided to host a “Spill the Boston Tea Party” on this episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. The hope is that they can have some friendship amendments, but the reality is this plane situation is simply going to haunt Meredith forever.
Heather claims Meredith is attempting to gaslight the group and Whitney is triggered by Meredith’s absurd behaviors. Will this tea party have more than just tea thrown overboard?
Bronwyn is picking up Todd from the airport, so that means only one thing: she absolutely has to wear a blow up sloth costume. Here’s hoping Todd behaved himself on THIS flight… Their relationship certainly has some issues, but Bronwyn is willing to try and look past the red flags. Bronwyn comes clean about her involvement with the recent group drama and Todd, disappointed, looks at her in a way that only a father could.
Bronwyn wants to celebrate her American citizenship and Todd looks bored to tears until her hears her witty party theme: “Spill the Boston Tea Party.” He actually chuckles and reminds Bronwyn that they used to hang traitors back then, so there’s that for the group.
Whitney and Justin are not on the best of terms. In fact, she questions the large bank transfer Justin made to one of the vendors. Justin feels like he has to make things right with the people they owe money to and since Wild Rose Beauty turned into a really bad decision, they are struggling. Whitney is fighting to get her brand name back and talks about blindly trusting Justin to guide her.
She had been asking Justin to work with her for years and when he hopped on the Wild Rose bandwagon, he wanted to make it a billion dollar company. Even though Justin apologizes for the business failing, Whitney is beginning to resent him. A business + a marriage is never an easy thing to navigate and Whitney is having a tough time bouncing back.
Heather is prepping a bed party for her youngest daughter. She is heading to Tampa for college and Heather is elated that she will get to be an empty nester. Heather explains her pride in raising her three girls, but she is thrilled to be less responsible and to start this new chapter of her life.
Bronwyn is a huge supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and so she is making sure that every non-government building in SLC raises a pride flag. Her mother is helping this mission, despite it not following her beliefs politically.
Bronwyn’s mom admits that Bronwyn has been a great mom for her daughter and finally lets her know that she is doing a good job in all that she does. A tearful Bronwyn loves hearing that her mom is proud of her, even though they took on their mom roles quite differently.
It’s the day of Bronwyn’s “Spill the Boston Tea Party.” Angie is the first to arrive at the loading dock and waits for the other women. Britani, Heather, and Whitney chat in the car on the way there.
Britani shares that she met with Meredith in a park (borderline sketchy) and they both apologized, but Meredith only apologized for hurting Britani’s feelings. Although they may never be friends, Britani and Meredith agreed to treat each other with civility.
When Lisa and Meredith arrive, it’s clear that Lisa did not get the memo, since she is not dressed in costume. Bronwyn makes her grand entrance, but Lisa is irked that this hoopla is all about her citizenship-couldn’t she just send flowers? Bronwyn makes the women put on some wigs and they enter a room that rivals Disneyland in the decor.
Bronwyn shows off her American knowledge and explains that in 1773, the colonists were angry because they were taxed without representation. She likens this situation to how many in the room feel like they are not represented appropriately. Bronwyn walks them through the timeline of the events and after the ladies get some food, they move onto the stage in preparation to spill the tea.
Bronwyn explains that the ladies are going to label the tea with someone’s name they have spilled the tea about. Not sure this is a great idea, considering this tactic failed miserably in Puerta Vallarta. Angie goes first. She spills about Lisa and her horse…reminding us all that Lisa rents this horse. Lisa jumps in to say that she in fact owns it AND she is looking to get a second one. Such a typical reaction…
Britani of course wants to know who spilled the tea about HER flirting with the deckhands on the yacht. She clearly does not understand how this game works, but Whitney owns up to it. She explains she told Justin Britani was flirting. Heather brings up the tea about Todd making out and farting, which will never get old. However, Bronwyn shuts this tea down fast and Heather apologizes just as quickly.
Bronwyn talks about trying to be a good friend to Meredith and wanting to warn her about what Whitney said about her. A salty Whitney wonders why Bronwyn laughed about it with her, but made it a big deal with Meredith. Whitney reminds Bronwyn that this was meant to be a private conversation, but if Whitney is so upset about Meredith finding out what she said, perhaps she should not have said it at all?
Whitney refers to Meredith as a belligerent woman and refuses to allow Meredith call HER a liar. According to Whitney, Meredith never takes accountability. Whitney gets pushed to her limit and eventually spews that Meredith is an alcoholic pill popper. She is sick of Meredith saying mean things about her.
Meredith proceeds to hand gifts to all of the women. As they unwrap what’s inside, they realize it’s a drug urine test. Meredith explains that anyone who has ever made accusations about her drug and alcohol usage should take this drug test. Way to back everyone in the corner, except Whitney refuses. She explains that she was merely reacting to Meredith’s behavior on the plane. Meredith calls Whitney’s rumors damaging.
Whitney claims that Meredith’s behavior is recognizable and it is a sensitive subject in her house. In the past, Whitney has witnessed people act like Meredith and they were fueled by drugs and alcohol. Even Mary finds it odd that Meredith’s version of events on the plane are so far from reality.
Meredith defends herself and Whitney claims this is projection at its finest. Heather is furious because Meredith is gaslighting her about lying. Heather does not like that Meredith questioned her friendship, loyalty, and experience.
She shrieks that she did nothing wrong to Meredith and that she feels unsettled by the whole plane situation. Meredith wants them to move on, since there will be no resolution, clearly.
Bronwyn ends the day with a “more pleasant surprise”- a dress reveal with the entire constitution on it. At the end of the day, they agree on some friendship amendments, like families are off limits, be a woman of your word, forgive, and see in the best in people.
Another amendment was that documentation is needed prior to spreading rumors. Meredith wants the reactive abuse to stop and this makes all of the ladies stop in their tracks. Is there a future of them all getting along once again?
