Black Torch anime to premiere in July 2026

The long-awaited anime adaptation of Black Torch is moving forward with a planned release date for July 2026. This marks the first major update from the production team in several months.

The announcement was made through the series’ official website, which also unveiled the project’s main promotional video and a poster highlighting the three core characters. The new visuals offer the first major look at how Tsuyoshi Takaki’s manga is being translated into anime.

To promote the project ahead of its release, the main cast will reportedly appear at Jump Festa 2026 for a special stage event on December 21. Ryota Suzuki, Yoji Ueda, Sayaka Sembongi, and Junya Enoki are confirmed to take part in the session. The cast is expected to share the recording process and further details about their characters.

The anime is being produced by 100studio, with Kei Umabiki directing the series. Gigaemon Ichikawa is handling the scripts and overall composition, while Go Suzuki is responsible for character designs. Music for the adaptation is composed by Yutaka Yamada.

Black Torch adapts Takaki’s supernatural action manga of the same name, which follows Jiro Azuma, a young man capable of communicating with animals. According to the English-language publisher VIZ Media, Jiro’s ability draws him into a dangerous chain of events when a mysterious cat fuses with him. This grants him new powers and places him in the middle of a hidden conflict involving mononoke, powerful spiritual beings.

The manga originally ran from 2017 to 2018, first in Jump Square before moving to Shonen Jump+, and is collected in five volumes.
