Gina Kirschenheiter’s boyfriend, Travis Mullen, scored a big win in court last month.
Weeks after having custody of his son, Joseph, temporarily suspended amid his ongoing battle with ex-wife Meghan Mullen, Travis, 40, and Meghan appeared in court on November 18, where Travis was granted temporary physical custody of the boy, with Meghan being limited to monitored visitation.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Meghan was ordered to bring Joseph to court and allow him to go home with Travis. She was also ordered not to contact the child until December 6, at which point visitation would begin.
Although Meghan will be able to FaceTime with her children, who also include daughters Presley and Bennett, Travis can monitor those calls. He can also request that she take up to three drug tests each month, or more if one is positive.
Upon Travis’ request, Meghan must submit a drug test he pays for within six hours. And if she fails two tests in a row, her custody rights will be suspended.
As Real Housewives of Orange County fans may recall, Travis accused Meghan of refusing to allow him to spend time with his son earlier this year.
“I have reached out to local police to enforce the current order, but they have not been helpful. I am concerned for [the son’s welfare] and feel that the ‘system’ has completely failed him,” he wrote in court documents. “This behavior on the part of [Meghan] has been occurring for over a year and I feel that nobody is advocating [for his son]. I need assistance from the court to ensure that [his son’s] needs are met, that my son and I continue to have a close and loving relationship.”
He also said she failed to take their son to school numerous times. However, in her own court documents, Meghan denied much of what she was accused of.
“Travis continues to misuse the court process to get his way,” she stated. “His [court] filings appear intended to punish and control me, not to protect the children. Travis is using the family court system as a tool of coercive control and retaliation.”
According to Meghan, Joseph didn’t want to see his dad due, in part, to an alleged incident that took place during a custody exchange.
“While trying to leave with … Travis began chasing us in Gina’s SUV, cutting me off, and slamming on the brakes in front of our car. [One of the kids] flew forward inside the vehicle and was terrified,” Meghan alleged.
But in his rebuttal, Travis denied Meghan’s claims, insisting he had his son that night, and he did not seem upset about the events of their exchange.
Travis and Meghan are due back in court in January.
