A rumor suggests Ghost Rider and Spider-Man were just a few names set to take the stage in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Despite how close Avengers: Kang Dynasty was to becoming a reality, the rumor mill has been all but silent about what the film was originally going to entail. Broadly, it seemed as though different teams of heroes would be facing off against variants of Kang the Conqueror, only to fail as the Multiverse collapses into Battleworld for Secret Wars.
As for who the heroes of Avengers: Kang Dynasty would be, many believed that the first of the duology would focus on the MCU’s newest crop of heroes. In particular, characters like Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi were reported to play a large role in the project. So even though there was never a rumor stating it, all signs pointed to the Sacred Timeline being key to the story.
The True Story Of Avengers: Kang Dynasty
However, it seems as though Avengers: Kang Dynasty would’ve been a lot more Multiversal than fans expected. A rumor from Hollywood insider MyTimeToShineHello reveals that the project would have heavily focused on anchor beings. Some fans expected, like Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. However, it seems Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider would’ve also played a key role.
“In this film, the TVA began gathering Anchor Beings from across the Multiverse, believing they are the only ones powerful enough to defeat the Council of Kangs. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were the Anchors for their respective realities, while Tom Holland’s Spider-Man served as the Anchor for Earth-616.”
“The movie was intended to be smaller in scope compared to SECRET WARS, focusing more on Holland’s Peter Parker, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and other Anchors like Nic Cage’s Ghost Rider.”
“The plan was for all of them to ultimately fail, leading to the collapse of the Multiverse and Kang’s creation of Battleworld. This would then set the stage for SECRET WARS, where other MCU characters and additional Multiverse figures would converge on Battleworld.”
Given how late in the game Avengers: Kang Dynasty came crumbling down, it’s more likely than not that all of the above actors are still on contract to appear in an Avengers movie. So fans shouldn’t be shocked to see Tobey Maguire and, yes, Nicolas Cage appear in Secret Wars as their iconic Marvel superheroes.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
