In an effort to stop folks from thinking his health is on a decline, Donald Trump is waving off fresh chatter about his health after cameras caught bruises on his hands during a recent public appearance.

The president says the internet detectives can relax as he claims he’s healthy, alert, and very much awake…
According to Trump, the real culprit isn’t some secret condition, it’s aspirin. In a sit-down with The Wall Street Journal published Thursday, Trump addressed the speculation, saying the bruising comes from taking aspirin every day to prevent blood clots, something he considers basic maintenance.
“They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart,” Trump said. “I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?”
Trump also shared a more casual explanation, telling the Journal that one bruise came from Attorney General Pam Bondi accidentally hitting his hand with her ring during a high-five. Simple accident, wrong angle, unlucky timing.
Still, the images have kept the conversation going. Visible bruises—sometimes covered with makeup or bandages—along with reports of swollen ankles have put Trump’s health under a microscope as he continues his second term at age 79. Trump, however, insists there’s nothing to see here.
That same energy carried over when he addressed claims that he’s been caught sleeping during meetings or public events. Trump strongly rejected that narrative.
“I’ve never been a big sleeper,” he said. What looks like him nodding off, he says, is just him taking a brief moment of calm.“I’ll just close. It’s very relaxing to me,” Trump added, noting that photographers sometimes catch him mid-blink and turn it into something bigger.
The president also clarified confusion around a past medical statement. After previously telling reporters he received an MRI with outstanding results in October, Trump told the Journal it wasn’t that deep. “Less than that. It was a scan.” His doctor, Sean Barbabella, later confirmed it was a CT scan used to check for cardiovascular issues.
Trump’s health has become an especially sensitive topic given his long-running shots at former President Joe Biden, whom he repeatedly labeled “sleepy.” Biden exited office at 82, making him the oldest president in U.S. history, a record Trump is now on pace to break.
