Simon Greene (James Nesbitt) hasn’t seen his eldest daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange) in six months, since she has descended into a spiral of drug addiction and petty crime with her abusive boyfriend (Thomas Flynn). When Simon goes to confront Paige, she runs away from him and disappears. Then, her boyfriend turns up murdered — with all eyes on Simon. Simon thus goes on a quest to find his runaway daughter, and he uncovers dark secrets that could unravel his family for good.
Harlan Coben’s 2019 novel Run Away finally gets the series treatment with this new Netflix mystery-thriller that also co-stars Minnie Driver. Fans of Coben and twisty mysteries will find plenty to love with the show, and it could even potentially crossover like one of Coben’s previous shows, Fool Me Once. Run Away has been praised for being as bingeable as Coben’s shows usually are, but also genuinely well-written, with a complex narrative, gripping pacing and high entertainment value.
