The family of Keith Porter Jr., including his daughter Aniyah Porter and mother Franceola Armstrong, continues to call for justice after an off-duty ICE agent fatally shot him on New Years Eve (December 31, 2025) in California.

As we previously shared, the 43-year-old father-of-two, son, and brother was killed by off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during a New Year’s Eve celebration outside the Village Pointe apartments in Northridge, Los Angeles. CA. The agent claimed he heard gunfire near his apartment and went outside to investigate.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) alleged Keith was holding a rifle when the agent confronted and ordered him to put the weapon down. DHS claimed the victim failed to comply with commands, resulting in the off-duty ICE agent firing three shots at him, using an authorized service weapon.
Following the fatal shooting, Keith’s family strongly challenged the government’s series of events shared. The family insisted that Keith fired celebratory gunshots into the air as part of the New Year’s Eve festivities. They claimed that when the off-duty agent arrived, well after shots fired, there was no active threat. Neighbors also reportedly told investigators that they did not hear the off-duty ICE agent identify himself as law enforcement upon confronting Keith Porter Jr.

Keith Porter Jr.’s Daughter Aniyah Porter And His Mother Franceola Armstrong Speak After He Is Killed By Off-Duty ICE Agent On NYE
Following the shooting of Keith Porter Jr., his family has held at least two candle-light vigils in his honor. The family is demanding transparency, evidence, an independent investigation, and overall justice. Meanwhile, the agent’s name remains unidentified. Additionally, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has NOT yet interviewed the agent, citing federal protocols, and the Los Angeles District Attorney (DA) says charges could take years.
On January 9, Keith Porter Jr.’s mother, Franceola Armstrong, gave an emotional speech during a Los Angeles city county meeting. In a viral clip, she said:
“My son, Keith Porter, he did not deserve this. Keith Porter was a wonderful soul. His heart was big. He had a big heart. He loved so hard. He loved so deep. Anyone who came in contact with Keith loved him. He was a joy. He was a jokester. He was my baby. He was a father, a cousin, an uncle. And he always said, ‘family over everything,’ meant the most to him.
My baby called me every morning to say, ‘Good morning, mom. I love you.’ Every day before he went to work, just to say, mom, ‘I love you. How was your day?’ He loved his daughter. He loved me so much. I miss my child. He does not deserve this. His Home Depot family, I’m so grateful to them. He loved unconditionally. He never argued. He wasn’t a gossip. He was the one that brought people together with love and unity. He was the type of person that there was no anger. He always brought joy into the room. He commanded the room. And he made you feel special. Everybody had a day. And it was from love, joy.
He loved to cook. He’d come to your house. He would just ram your refrigerator and just cook a meal. And he just wanted happiness. He wanted everybody to just be filled with joy. He would say, ‘I don’t care, mom. If I have a dollar in my pocket, you would never know it because I’m a millionaire, because I’m going to walk just like that. I’m going to let everybody know I am that person. I’m going to put my clothes on. And I’m just going to love. I’m spiritual. I love God. And I love everybody. And there’s a lot of people out there that love me. And I know it.’
So, I just want you to know, please, justice for my baby. He does not deserve this. Please. This person hurt my child. And he would never hurt anybody. He loved so hard. He rescued animals. He worked with disabled children. He helped raise kids and foster families. He was such a joy. His heart was so big. His heart was so big. He didn’t deserve this.
He was on his way back to say, ‘Mommy, I love you. Happy New Year.’ He didn’t even get to pop his champagne. He didn’t get to say goodbye. I just want to touch my baby one last time, kiss his face, and hold him. I don’t have him. His life was snatched from us, Lord. Please, I just wish you could get justice for my child. Oh, please, get justice for my baby.”
Hours later, Keith Porter Jr.’s daughter, Aniyah Porter, shared a video to her TikTok speaking on her father’s murder. She simply captioned the post, “#KeithPorter.” In her video, she said:
“My name is Aniyah Porter. My father’s name was Keith Porter Jr. My father’s dead. He was killed by an off-duty ICE agent. It was unjust. And I’ve seen things I don’t like. And I want to remind people that this is real life. This is my real life. This isn’t news. This isn’t an article I can just swipe away on. My dad is dead. Please respect him. Say his name. F**k ICE. And Black Lives Matter. Justice for Keith Porter Jr.”
The family has since launched a GoFundMe, organized by his Keith Porter Jr.’s mother, Franceola Armstrong. The page’s Story section reads:
“On New Year’s Eve, my life was forever changed when my son was taken from us in a violent and tragic act by an off duty ICE agent. No parent should ever have to bury their child, and the pain of this loss is something I would not wish on anyone. My son leaves behind two beautiful daughters, ages 10 and 20. They were his heart. Everything he did, every plan he made, was for them. Now they are left to navigate a world without their father, and my greatest concern is protecting them, supporting them, and making sure they are cared for during this unimaginable time. Since my son’s passing, so many people have reached out asking how they can help and wanting to send something for the girls. This GoFundMe was created only to provide a safe and respectful place for those who wish to give and support his daughters. Every contribution will go directly toward the care, stability, and future of my granddaughters – including their immediate needs, emotional support, education, and whatever is required to help them heal and move forward. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the love, prayers, and kindness that have been shown to my family. Please continue to keep my granddaughters covered in prayer as they face a road no child should have to walk. With gratitude and love, Franceola Armstrong.”
