TV host Joy Reid is blasting “deportable” rapper Nicki Minaj for “sucking up” and “kissing President Donald Trump‘s a**” in order to “protect herself, her brother, and her husband.”

While speaking with Angela Yee on her ‘Way Up With Angela Yee‘ radio show, Reid slammed the Trinidadian-born “Super Bass” rapper. Reid’s comments arrive after Minaj, born Onika Maraj, most recently sat and spoke with Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk at TPUSA’s “AmericaFest” event in Phoenix, Arizona back in December.
Before that, Minaj praised President Trump on X after he threatened Nigerian officials over reports of the persecution of Christians. Minaj’s public praise for Trump resulted in her getting a United Nations invitation. Weeks later, she offered a speech at a U.N. event. Weeks after that, she surprised her fans, aka The Barbz, and more at TPUSA’s AmFest event, where she boldly praised Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

In response to Nicki Minaj’s pledge of allegiance to the Donald Trump administration, unconfirmed reports circulated claiming she lost millions of followers on Instagram. Reid initially clowned the rapper by reposting the reports and writing:
“Ten million followers lost, but hey, at least she now has her #maga and #turningpointusa friends plus the #jeffreyepstein defenders who are cool with pedos … all of whom will I’m sure any day now will become huge fans of woman-performed hip hop and formerly undocumented Trinidadian immigrants (so long as they’re not in fishing boats near Venezuela.) This should all work out perfectly for #nicki …. Let’s see if Donald comes through with those pardons. #magaconsequences.”
Minaj also faced millions upon millions of signatures on at least two petitions ordering her deportation back to Trinidad and Tobago.

Joy Reid Slams ‘Deportable’ Nicki Minaj And Claims She’s ‘Kissing Donald Trump’s A**’ To ‘Protect Herself, Her Brother And Husband’
Weeks after Joy Reid initially clowned Nicki Minaj for aligning herself with Donald Trump’s administration, she is back again to drag her. While appearing on the January 12 episode of Angela Yee’s radio show, Reid claimed Minaj is “deportable” and is only “sucking up” and “kissing Trump’s a**” in order to “protect herself, her brother Jelani Maraj, and her husband Kenneth Petty.” Minaj’s brother is a convicted child rapist and her husband is a convicted and registered sex offender.
In January 2020, a judge sentenced Jelani Maraj to 25 years after a jury found him guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child and child endangerment. In 1995, Kenneth Petty was convicted of attempted rape, for which he pleaded guilty and served four years in a New York prison. Due to his conviction, officials also mandated him to register as a sex offender in his state of residence.
While speaking with Angela Yee, Joy Reid slammed Nicki Minaj over her allegiance to Donald Trump and said:
“Listen, speaking of undocumented people, this lady came here and by the way — we share a birthday, so it’s a little weird that we always kind of—we’ve had before. So, I was a fan of her music. I think she’s a musical—she’s talented. I mean, you know, like Kanye West. These are talented musicians. Nobody should never listen to anything she says other than just her music. This lady came here 5-years-old undocumented. She understands what it’s like to be undocumented. Grew up in this city. She’s deportable because she definitely was undocumented originally. She is a Trinidadian. She didn’t say anything about the killing of those Trinidadian fisherman. I’m quite sure the people in Trini noticed that she doesn’t seem to care about her people. And the idea of sucking up to Trump not long after you said you don’t want a Melania [Trump] because you don’t want a weak woman, right? You don’t want somebody that’s just sucking up to the president. And after you criticized his deportation policies yourself, now all of a sudden you’re kissing his a**?”
Yee asked Reid, “What do you think happened?” Reid continued:
“I think she has a brother and a husband who got some serious legal issues around pedophilia, particularly, her brother — who’s serving, what, 25 to life, or something for the violation of a child, or of children. And I think she’s thinking, ‘You know how I can get a pardon? I’ll go be friends with the Turning Point USA people. I’ll kiss Trump’s a** and Vance’s a** and maybe I’ll get pardons and maybe I won’t get deported.’ I mean, my cynical self says that she’s trying to protect herself, her brother, and her husband from the administration by kissing their a**.”
