Alex Duong dies at 42 after battling rare cancer
Alex Duong, best known for his appearances in Blue Bloods and Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle, died at the age of 42 after a battle with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. This aggressive soft tissue cancer typically affects deep tissues of the limbs, trunk, or head and neck. It is considered rare.
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, Hilarie Steele, a friend of Duong’s, announced that the actor had passed away that morning. She shared that she was “surrounded by love and dear friends.” Duong had reportedly experienced septic shock a day earlier.
“He was comfortable and thankfully out of pain,” Steele wrote. “He was alert enough to say goodbye to his little girl, whom he has treasured every moment since the day she was born.” She added that Duong’s wife, Christina, and 5-year-old daughter, Everest, were both able to say their goodbyes before he died.
“Your continued support now means everything as Christina and Everest navigate the days ahead and to arrange a beautiful celebration of his life,” she added on the GoFundMe set up to cover Duong’s memorial service, as well as Everest’s education needs, ongoing care, and daily support (via PEOPLE). “All of us will be by her side to hold her up and help her in every way possible.”
Duong was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma in early 2025 after his manager noticed significant swelling in his eye. His tumor was later described as “extremely aggressive.” His health declined over time, and he required increased care. A year later, Duong died from the illness.
Tributes have since been shared by members of the entertainment community.
