I went into They Will Kill You expecting a chaotic good time, and it absolutely delivered! This is one of those movies that knows exactly what it is and leans all the way into it. It’s loud, violent, funny, and awesomely unhinged!
If you’re the kind of person who loves grabbing popcorn and watching something go completely off the rails, this thing is going to hit just right.
The story itself is simple, but honestly, that works in its favor. We follow a woman searching for her missing sister, only to end up trapped inside a nightmarish compound run by a wealthy cult of immortal devil worshippers.
From there, it turns into a brutal, supernatural cat-and-mouse survival game. It’s the kind of setup that gives the movie permission to just go wild, and director Kirill Sokolov absolutely takes advantage of that. He throws in everything from grindhouse-style violence to over-the-top horror comedy insanity.
What really makes this movie pop is Zazie Beetz. She owns this movie. Her performance is electric, fearless, and just straight-up cool. You can tell she’s having an amazing time, and that energy is contagious.
This is easily one of the most fun roles she’s taken on, and she goes all in. Whether she’s slicing through enemies or delivering attitude with a smirk, she keeps you locked in from start to finish, and she’s so badass!
The movie has this wild mix of influences that feel familiar but still fresh. You can see shades of Ready or Not in the setup, flashes of Kill Bill in the action, and even some chaotic Evil Dead 2 energy in the way it embraces absurdity.
It blends all of that into something that feels like a full-on midnight movie experience. It’s messy, sure, but it’s the kind of messy that feels intentional and fun instead of sloppy.
The cinematography and fight choreography are slick, creative, and often get ridiculous, but I loved that. The violence is over-the-top and cartoonish, with plenty of gore for fans of that style. It’s the kind of movie where you’re laughing one second and wincing the next, and somehow it keeps that balance going the entire time.
The supporting cast also adds to the chaos. With actors like Tom Felton, Heather Graham, and Patricia Arquette, there’s a solid lineup of characters that help fill out this twisted world.
At the end of the day, They Will Kill You isn’t trying to be deep or overly serious, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s a blood-drenched, high-energy thrill ride that embraces style, humor, and pure entertainment.
I had an absolute blast watching it, and I think audiences looking for a fun, chaotic escape are going to feel the same way. Sometimes you just want to watch a badass take on a cult with a sword, and this movie delivers exactly that.
This movie isn’t doing well at the box office, so if you want to see more movies like this in theaters, go out and watch it on the bog screen!
