On Easter Sunday 2026, President Donald Trump issued a wild message, or threat (depending on where you’re sitting), to Iran over the Strait of Hormuz — the waterway between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, where…you guessed it…30 percent of the world’s seaborne-traded crude oil, and other trade items, pass through.

President Donald Trump Doubles Down On Easter Sunday Threat To Iran: ‘We’re Blowing Up The Entire Country If They Don’t Reopen The Strait Of Hormuz Or Make Peace Within 48 Hours’
Following President Trump’s first threat on Resurrection Day, he doubled down with ABC News and Fox News. Trump warned Iran that if they don’t “reopen the Strait of Hormuz or make peace within 48 hours, we’re blowing up the entire country.”
While speaking with ABC News‘ Senior Political Correspondent Rachel Scott. She asked if his previously shared timeline of 2-3 weeks for a deal still stood. He fired off:
“It should be days, not weeks. Iran has been decimated, decimated. And every day is going to get worse. Every day they’re gonna have to build more bridges, and they’re gonna have to build more power plants and more everything else. There’s been no country that’s ever taken a pounding like that.”
Trump continued to claim that Iran has 48 hours to agree to a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or make peace. He said:
“If it happens, it happens. And if it doesn’t, we’re blowing up the whole country. We’re blowing up, as I said, it’s going to be bridge day and it’s going to be power plant day in the country of Iran.”
