Updating a story first posted here on April 6, Lady Gaga and Doechii will enliven The Devil Wears Prada 2 with the original song “Runway,” which is out now after being teased earlier this week in the final trailer for the film. Set for May 1 release, Prada 2 finds Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles from the 2006 original, which was nominated for two Oscars and three Golden Globes.
“Runway” was co-produced by frequent Gaga collaborator Andrew Watt, Bruno Mars, Cirkut and Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II. Watt is also one of the co-writers along with Gaga, Mars, Doechii, Cirkut, D’Mile and Jayda Love.
Gaga, who also has a cameo in Prada 2, has been vocal about her Doechii fandom. “You don’t often see someone come out of the gate with a pen that feels immediately legendary. That’s Doechii to me,” she told British Vogue in 2025. “I fell in love with her music and her raw, deeply personal perspective. The power in her words, her vulnerability, the way she rhymes with this wild mix of audacity and emotional precision — it struck me to the core.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 also stars Justin Theroux, Kenneth Branagh, Tracie Thoms and Simone Ashley. For Gaga, it’s her first film role since 2024’s Joker: Folie à Deux, which was savaged by critics.
As for Hathaway, she’s also stepping up to the mic. As previously reported, she plays the titular pop star in the upcoming film Mother Mary, the soundtrack for which will feature her singing songs co-written and co-produced by Charli xcx and Jack Antonoff. The self-described “psychosexual pop opera” will be in theaters nationwide on April 24, with the soundtrack arriving a week earlier on A24 Music.
