During a recent episode of Bevy Smith’s ‘Bevelations’ podcast on SiriusXM, the TV personality, best known as a co-host on Bravo’s fashion-themed talk show, ‘Fashion Queens,’ asked Porter if he was going to the 2026 Met Gala. The event is scheduled to take place on Monday (May 4) and will celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Costume Art.”
Speaking with Porter, Smith began by stating, “The Met Gala.” The actor initially chuckled and Smith continued to ask, “Are you going this year?” Porter simply said, “No, I’m not going. I have not been invited. I haven’t been invited back since 2019.”
While Smith recalled, “Oh, the Camp year?,” Porter confirmed, “Uh huh.” Smith continued to ask, “When you came in the gold pegasus moment?” Porter continued to confirm, “That’s the only time I’ve ever gone and the only time I’ve ever been invited. And I was invited by Ryan Murphy that year.” Smith replied, “Really? That’s shocking.”
Porter agreed: “Umm hmm. They did a—last year was ‘Black Dandyism,’ and I was not invited. Just going to throw that out there.” He continued:
“I’m good. It’s all good. I’m—but the reality is, when people ask me, you need to know: I was not invited. And I don’t go to places where I’m not welcome. I’ve earned the invitation and it’s okay that I don’t have it, because there’s a level that I’ve reached that doesn’t require validation from the outside. So, I’mma gonna sit and live in that excuse it helps keep me sane, too.”

Billy Porter Previously Shared His ‘Problem With Harry Styles And That B*tch Anna Wintour’
Meanwhile, as Porter’s newest comment began trending, so did a resurfaced article from ’The Telegraph UK.’ The piece was titled, “Billy Porter on his problem with Harry Styles and ‘that b*tch’ Anna Wintour.” In the article, Porter shared how Styles cover upset him as he’d done a Q&A with Anna Wintour with the Condé Nast staff watching. Porter said:
“That b*tch said to me at the end, ‘How can we do better?’ And I was so taken off guard that I didn’t say what I should have said. [Which was:] Use your power as Vogue to uplift the voices of the leaders of this de-gendering of fashion movement … Six months later, Harry Styles is the first man on the cover. It’s not Harry Styles’ fault that he happens to be White, and cute, and straight, and fit into the infrastructure that way … I call out the gatekeepers.””
Furthermore, Porter said he doesn’t claim to be “the first” to push gender stereotypes in pop culture. He admitted, “I know David Bowie existed, I know Sylvester existed. [However, Styles is] White and he’s straight. That’s why he’s on the cover. Non-binary blah, blah, blah, blah. No. It doesn’t feel good to me. You’re using my community — or your people are using my community — to elevate you. You haven’t had to sacrifice anything.”
