Prince Harry has made his position as a member of the Royal Family clear. During a new interview, the 41-year-old spoke about his role as a Royal, acknowledging that he’d always have duties as a public figure due to the family he was born into. Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have been in the headlines for years. In 2020, the pair announced they were stepping back from their full-time roles as Royal members, sparking much discussion about the dynamics of the monarchy.
While speaking with ITV on Friday, April 24, Prince Harry said he’d “always be part of the royal family” despite the challenges they’ve faced over the last several years. His statement came after a reporter asked the public figure whether he agreed with being referred to as “not a working royal.”
“No. I will always be part of the royal family,” the “Spare” author replied. “I am here working doing the things that I was born to do.”
Prince Harry went on to say that he values the service he can provide to others in his role. “I enjoy coming to do these trips and supporting that I’ve ever before, the friends that I’ve made, and hopefully, bringing attention to issues that, for one reason or another, drop out of the news because something else has popped up,” he said.

According to a report from PEOPLE, Prince Harry and his wife, actress-turned-Royal Markle, stepped down from their official duties in January 2020, announcing their plans to split time between the United States and the U.K.
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” their statement read. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
Days later, Queen Elizabeth issued an unusual statement, revealing that the married couple would be placed on a one-year probationary period while the monarchy fully defines their roles.
“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family,” the statement read. “Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”

The Blast reported that Prince Harry could return to life as a full-time royal over the next few years; however, he’d be required to completely forego the life he’s built for himself and his wife.
A source shared that the most practical way back into the fold would require the public figure to not only walk back certain claims, but also apologize to King Charles and his brother, Prince William. The insider further claimed that divorcing Markle could be what the monarchy sees as the “traditional Windsor error-correction route.”
It’s unclear whether Prince Harry will actually follow through, given that the philanthropist previously said he hoped to avoid life in the public eye after the loss of his mother, Princess Diana, in August 1997.
“Loss is disorienting at any age,” he said. “Grief does not disappear because we ignore it… And without purpose, it can break you.”

As Prince Harry and Markle continue building their future, another report from The Blast suggests Prince William won’t be involved.
Royal commentators shared that Harry has tried his hardest to connect with his brother; however, the former has been met with a “wall of silence.”
While the sources didn’t share the exact reason for William’s alleged behavior, they said William’s stance could be influenced by Harry’s public comments about their family over the years.
Another royal specialist, Richard Fitzwilliams, shared a similar view, stating that William sees his brother as “totally untrustworthy.”

Despite the beef with his bloodline, Prince Harry is reportedly getting close to some of Hollywood’s elite, according to The Blast.
An insider shared that Harry has formed a surprisingly close bond with David Foster, whom he reportedly sees as a “father figure.”
Foster’s wife, Katharine McPhee, called their relationship “beautiful” and “so cute.”
Years ago, Foster revealed he had helped Harry and Markle settle into their new home in Canada.
