A terrifying scene unfolded in Spokane County, Washington, after a woman reportedly used her vehicle as a weapon against a child before trying to force her way into a stranger’s home.
The Sidewalk Chase
The chaotic series of events began on April 28, when Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies received frantic calls from witnesses. According to Fox 6 Now, Wendy A. Clemente, 56, was allegedly seen driving her car onto a sidewalk, intentionally chasing down a young boy.
Witnesses described a harrowing scene as the boy scrambled to get out of the path of the vehicle. Fortunately, the child managed to escape unharmed, but Clemente didn’t stop there. Authorities say that after the sidewalk incident, Clemente drove about a mile away to a residential neighborhood. A local homeowner alerted police after spotting Clemente on his live surveillance camera attempting to break into his house.
When deputies arrived, they found Clemente’s car parked right in the victim’s driveway. She was caught in the act of trying to enter the home and was immediately detained.
An Aggressive Encounter
The situation turned even more volatile during the arrest. Clemente initially claimed she was completely sober. Under further questioning, she allegedly admitted to deputies that she had been drinking.While being placed into the patrol car, Clemente reportedly became combative and attempted to kick a deputy.
Legal Consequences
Clemente was hauled off to the Spokane County Jail, where she is currently facing serious felony charges. Her bond and court dates are pending as investigators look further into what triggered the violent spree. She has been booked for first-degree attempted assault and first-degree criminal trespass.
