Katie Maloney reacted to Lala Kent‘s recent comments about their falling out during Wednesday’s episode of her shared podcast with Dayna Kathan.
Weeks after Lala, 35, admitted that their feud had been “brutal” and said their friendship was the “hardest” to lose on her own podcast, Unlikely Affair, the 40-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum shaded Lala for treating her “maliciously” at the season 10 reunion, accused her of continuing to back the behavior, and suggested she had been moving weird with her ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, on The Valley.
“Obviously, [Lala]’s talked about it now on multiple occasions that she sent me a text last summer, and it of course started off with like, ‘There’s no need to reply to this,’ so immediately I was like, ‘Cool, cuz I don’t plan on it,’” Katie on the May 13 episode of Disrespectfully.
Although Katie wasn’t interested in a back-and-forth with Lala, she clarified that she was “not harboring a grudge” and didn’t “hate” Lala.
“I just, I think I like to learn from people and take lessons and apply them to my life and do better,” she noted, adding that she and Lala had “been down that road more than once.”
“I kind of feel like I’d be a fool to keep coming back for more,” she continued. “This person is kind of showing me who and what they are, and it just doesn’t work for me anymore.”
Katie also took issue with the way Lala suggested that their falling out was the result of a single moment.
“She treats it as if there was this one moment, this isolated incident that happened at the reunion where she kind of like threw me under the bus with some information [about Ariana Madix] that was, first of all, private, but also it’s so in the past, and it was just no longer relevant to what we were discussing at that moment,” Katie clarified. “It just felt, the intention felt malicious. It wasn’t to just genuinely call out or ask a question. It felt like, no, not for me.”
Looking back on the moments leading up to the reunion, Katie said she and Lala were in close contact, which made Lala’s actions against her, which included sharing info Katie had told her about her concerns for her sandwich shop with Ariana, 40, even more bizarre.
“It was shocking how she turned on a dime so aggressively and so quickly, so that kind of threw me off. So, yeah, after that reunion, I was like, I don’t want to talk to her,” she revealed. “That sh*t was so weird. She went so hard. And then after that, for like months, doubled-down, tripled-down, brought my mom into it all, and [called] me miserable … So it hasn’t made a lot of sense to me in her sort of unpacking and the way she talked about it.”
Continuing to slam Lala’s antics as “weird as f*ck,” Katie signaled her interactions with Tom, 43, on The Valley.
“Obviously, I’ve moved on from my divorce and from Tom. But her moving weird with that stuff, like the joking of being with Tom and even seeing stuff on The Valley of like, her constantly joking about hooking up with him and they pecked in the pool or something, I don’t know, it’s like, you’re gonna cry about our friendship but then do the very thing you did when you first came on to that show that made me hate you [which] was try to make me feel more insecure in my relationship than I already was. And now you’re kind of acting it out with letting it play out that way,” she alleged.
“It just feels weird, so I just feel like she moves funny, and I just think that it would be cyclical with her if we were to [rekindle our friendship],” Katie concluded.
Katie responds to Lala saying her hardest friendship breakup was with her. Katie says the first thing Lala’s text said was, “There’s no need to reply to this,” and Katie thought to herself, “Cool, because I don’t plan on it.” 🤣
