A Florida woman was recently arrested after asking a woman “could you duck a switch” before pulling up to the woman’s home and firing shots at her.
According to a police report from the Miami-Dade Police department, officers received a call and were dispatched just before 3 a.m. on August 28. They were called to the 1100 block of Northeast 111th Street in Northeast Miami-Dade in reference to a shooting.

When police arrived to the home, officers said they spoke to a woman who told them that she received a threatening text message from the Florida woman who was arrested. She has since been identified as 27-year-old Gianny Quelix.
The female victim said that Quelix sent her a menacing text message that asked, “Could you duck a switch?” For those unknowing, investigators have described a switch to be in reference to a mechanism that is placed on a gun to now make it a fully automatic weapon.

Now, officers with the Miami-Dade Police Department said that after Quelix sent the woman the threatening “duck a switch” text message, she pulled up to the woman’s home. The victim said she witnessed Quelix park a white vehicle in front of her home, roll down the driver’s side window, and then fire shots at her.
According to the police report, the female victim was fortunately not hit by any of the shots. However, a vehicle that was nearby was struck by the gunfire. Investigators said that Quelix’s actions caused more than $1,000 worth of damage to the parked vehicle.

In their report, officers with the Miami-Dade Police Department also said the Florida woman never left her vehicle during the shooting, and that after she finished firing shots, she fled the area westbound on Northeast 111th Street.
Detectives said that after further investigation, they learned that Quelix owned the white vehicle that she was driving, which was identified as a Honda Accord. Upon Quelix’s arrest, investigators said the vehicle had the same Florida tag that was reported to them by the victim in her statement to police.

In addition to the vehicle’s tags matching up, the victim positively identified Quelix from a photo lineup. Quelix was also interviewed by investigators, during which time she admitted to owning the white Honda Accord, and further noting that she and her boyfriend are the only two people who drive the car.
Quelix also told investigators that her boyfriend owns a semi-automatic handgun, which is kept at the home where they both reside. Following Quelix’s arrest, she was issued several charges, including attempted second-degree murder, unlawful use of a communications device, aggravated assault with a firearm and criminal mischief.
Quelix is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Police have not publicly identified a motive in this case.
