Jason Momoa’s Aquaman was one of the breakout stars of Justice League (no matter the version). New concept art reveals an alternate design for the King of Atlantis in the film.
One of the few complaints about Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in Justice League was his suit, which looked more green than the iconic orange with green pants. However, Justice League concept art gives fans an alternate design for the Avenger of the Deep that would’ve been closer to the comics:
Luckily for Aquaman fans, Jason Momoa donned the iconic design in his solo movie. However, with rumors he’ll be recast as Lobo in the DC Universe, it’s not likely he’ll wear a similar suit in any future Justice League project. However, the best part about concept art for these films is seeing the alternate designs that were never meant to be.
The future of the DC Universe
James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Blue Beetle have all been released following the announcement of the new DC Universe, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
