Will Fallout be Prime Video’s Last of Us?
TV and movie adaptations of video games rarely hit the mark, and Prime Video will take a big chance with its adaptation of the Fallout franchise.
Get all the details below.
Fallout TV Series: When Does it Premiere?
The streaming service on Monday morning revealed that the highly-anticipated series will premiere on Friday, April 12, 2024.
Yes, that’s quite a while away, but it’s nice to know when we’ll step into the post-apocalyptic universe made famous by the Bethesda video game franchise.
The exciting TV news dropped during “Fallout Day,” with the streaming service’s social channels sharing a teaser styled like one of the Pip-Boys from the game.
Fallout TV Series: What’s It About?
The series will take a big swing by crafting an original story set in the Fallout universe.
The storyline picks up in 2077, with citizens forced to live in underground bunkers to protect themselves from radiation, mutants, and bandits.

Vault 33, which was used in the canon of the video games, will be used as a jumping-off point for the series.
Knowing it’s an original story allows the creatives not to be constrained to the source material.
Fallout TV Series Creative Team Revealed
We doubt the series will struggle when it comes to world-building, with Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan overseeing the project.
“Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time,” Joy and Nolan said in a joint statement when they were announced to be shepherding the project.
“Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends.”
So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.”
“Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen,” said Howard, executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios.
“But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right.”

“We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios.”
“Fallout is an iconic global franchise, with legions of fans worldwide and a rich, deeply compelling storyline that powers it,” Amazon said in 2020.
“And [Jonathan] and Lisa are the perfect storytellers to bring this series to life.”
Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as executive producers, writers, and co-showrunners of the series.
Athena Wickham also executive produces along with Howard for Bethesda Game Studios and James Altman for Bethesda Softworks.
Amazon and Kilter Films produce in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks.
Nolan directed the first three episodes of the series.
Fallout TV Series Cast Revealed
Walton Goggins was the first cast member revealed to be starring in the series back in February 2022.
The impressive cast includes Ella Purnell, Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Aaron Moten.
Also starring are Moises Arias, Johnny Pemberton, Aixa Kendrick, Leer Leary, Dave Register, and Rodrigo Luzzi.

Details about who they will be playing are being kept under wraps, possibly until the series debuts.
The more likely scenario is we’ll get clarity on who they will be playing when the official trailer drops, which should happen in early 2024.
The talent behind and in front of the camera is impressive, so we hope that translates into a worthy entry in the Fallout franchise.
The video game series of Fallout is still going strong, with Fallout 76 still being updated and a fifth mainline entry reportedly in the works.
Where Can I Stream Fallout?
Prime Video picked up Fallout in 2020, so episodes will be exclusively available on the streaming service.
It’s still unclear whether it will be a weekly release or if we’re in for a binge release.

We hope it’s the former because it strikes us as the type of show that will do well with the weekly conversation.
