Warner Bros. has made another exciting casting announcement for its DC Universe movie Superman: Legacy. After confirming David Corenswet as the next Superman, WB has revealed that Rachel Brosnahan will be portraying the iconic DC Comics character Lois Lane. The duo will co-star in the highly-anticipated movie, written and directed by DC Studios co-head James Gunn.

Rachel Brosnahan emerged as the top choice for the role of Lois Lane last month. When the audition process began, Brosnahan faced fierce competition from Emma Mackey, known for her breakout role in Sex Education, and Phoebe Dynevor of Bridgerton fame. In the end, Brosnahan’s performance left an impression on James Gunn and Warner Bros. executives, helping her land the coveted role.

An emblematic character from DC Comics, Lois Lane was conceived by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, first gracing the pages of Action Comics #1 back in 1938. As a paragon of journalistic integrity and tenacity, Lois is deeply woven into the fabric of comic book lore as the love of Superman’s life.

Superman: Legacy will not only focus on the central characters but also introduce new faces to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe. According to reports, Legacy will feature numerous DC Comics heroes who are already established when Legacy begins.

Superman’s DC Universe Future

Superman: Legacy is a much-anticipated project, given that Clark Kent has been an integral part of the DC Universe for over 80 years, with various iterations and adaptations across different media. The movie promises to explore the character’s origins and his struggles to balance his dual identities as Clark Kent and Superman while fighting off villains and saving the world.

James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room and a unified storyline across film, television, animation and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
