How To Defeat The Green Monster of The Swamp How To Defeat The Puppet-Devouring Green Monster
As you travel through the Barren Swamp in Lies of P, you’ll eventually have to beat a terrifying boss named The Green Monster of the Swamp, whose attacks can inflict a deadly condition throughout the fight. You can take advantage of a clear weakness in other enemies from this area to expose this boss’s vulnerability. This monstrous foe has two phases you should be able to overcome as long as you pay attention to its attack patterns.
Like many of the mandatory bosses in Krat, such as the Scrapped Watchman in Lies of P, you can summon a Specter to help you against the Green Monster of The Swamp. By visiting a summoning pool right before the boss arena and spending a Star Fragment, you create an NPC ally that helps during the fight. This choice doesn’t make the Monster any stronger, so feel free to do this if you struggle to defeat this putrid foe.
You can find the summoning pool to create a Specter near the Green Monster of The Swamp arena past the Barren Swamp Bridge Stargazer.
How To Defeat The Green Monster of The Swamp
The best way to defeat the Green Monster of The Swamp is to use Fire damage, whether through your weapon in Lies of P or from thrown objects you’ve collected. Do not use Acid from items like Acid Abrasives since the Monster resists that damage. This boss has fast attacks, which can cause the Decay condition, a status effect that slowly decreases the durability of your current weapon.

Description
How to Beat
Slamming Strike
The Green Monster of The Swamp slams both of its fists into the ground in front of you.
Dodge the slam or Move around to the back of the Monster to hit it while it recovers from this attack.
Decay Slash
With a swiping slash of its claw, the Monster inflicts Decay on anyone it hits.
Be ready to Dodge out of the way when you see the Monster raise its claw to attack.
Charging Trample
The Monster charges forward, knocking over anyone that gets in its way. This is oftentimes a Fury Attack.
The Monster can’t change direction when it begins charging, so Move out of its way when you see it start to run. You may also perfectly guard the attack if you have the right timing.
Burrow
Leaping into the air, the Monster dives into the ground, jumping out as it reaches you from under the earth.
You will be able to see the Monster’s path from underground on the surface. Watch for where the boss is moving before you Dodge when it attacks again.
Backhand Slap
The Monster swipes their hand in front of them for a quick melee strike.
Dodge or Block this attack, or Move away as you see the Monster raise its hand.
Antennae Whip
After standing still for a moment, the Monster uses its Antennae to whip you, inflicting Decay if they hit.
Block both strikes from each Antenna to avoid Decay build-up.
If you are afraid Pinocchio might contract Decay throughout this boss fight, you can use an item called Attribute Resistance Ampoule to increase your resistance to the condition build-up.
As soon as you take down the Green Monster of The Swamp’s health to zero, it will merge with the remains of a puppet to become a new boss. This acts as a second phase, turning the beast into the Puppet-Devouring Green Monster. You should consider conserving your Pulse Cells or the uses of your Legion Arm in Lies of P until this point of the fight, which will be far more difficult to win.
How To Defeat The Puppet-Devouring Green Monster
The Puppet-Devouring Green Monster has the same moves from the first phase, only this time with new properties that make them far deadlier than before. The Monster retains its ability to cause Decay, making this part of the battle as intense as its beginning. Thankfully, there are no Fury Attacks from this opponent, a rare trait compared to other foes like the Door Guardian boss in Lies of P.
One aspect of this boss fight that does change is the Monster’s weaknesses, with another element being able to cause damage. Like how Pinocchio could use Fire to damage Carcass enemies in Lies of P, the puppet infused into the boss gives it a vulnerability to Electric Blitz. Weapons like the Coil Mjolnir Hammer are particularly effective for this phase, dealing that type of damage through their Fable Arts.
Consumable items such as Electric Blitz Abrasives and Throwing Cells are very useful during this phase, letting you infuse Electric Blitz into your weapon or just deal that damage type when thrown as a projectile.

How Moves Change
How to Beat
Slamming Strike
The Monster has much larger limbs that make the attack hit in a bigger radius than before.
Dodge or Move at an earlier time than the first phase while still making an attempt to reach the Monster’s back for an attack window.
Decay Slash
The slashing hand of the Monster strikes faster, trying to deal Decay at a much quicker pace than in the first phase.
Be prepared to Dodge against this faster timing or Move out of the Monster’s way when you see it raise its hand.
Charging Trample
The Monster charges for a longer period of time, usually in one or two more paths.
React to these changes with the same strategy as the first phase, as you Move to avoid the linear paths the Monster takes.
Burrow
While it isn’t harder to detect the Monster underground, it moves toward you much faster.
Watch and Dodge like you did in the first phase while making sure to adjust to the new timing.
Backhand Slap
The Monster has much larger limbs that make the attack hit in a bigger radius than before.
Dodge or Block this attack in the same way while making sure to stay close to the Monster despite the larger range of its limb.
Antennae Whip
Both Antennae are larger and cause more Decay build-up when they hit.
Block each appendage as you learn how far they reach in this phase.
Managing to beat the Puppet-Devouring Green Monster from the Barren Swamp gives you a Golden Ergo and the boss’ Special Ergo that can be transformed into a boss weapon in Lies of P.

Summary: Following in the footsteps of games similar to Bloodborne, Lies of P is an action-RPG adventure game with heavy Souls-like influences. Loosely based on the tale of Pinocchio, Lies of P throws players into the shoes of the reimagined wooden boy as a puppet mechanoid as he wakes up in a city devoid of life. Pinocchio has only one clue as to what’s happening to him; a single note telling him to find Mr. Gepetto. Players will battle through the city of Krat free of humans as they struggle against other mechanical and hellish monsters that await them at every turn. To face these threats, players can craft various weapons using devices found throughout the city and gain new attachments to improve traversal. The ending can be significantly affected depending on the player’s narrative and action-based choices. Lies of P will be released on current and next-gen consoles and PC sometime in 2023.
