Kameron Westcott reacted to Katy Perry’s court victory against the Real Housewives of Dallas star’s father-in-law, Carl Westcott.
Kameron’s father-in-law, 83-year-old veteran Carl, had alleged that Katy and Orlando Bloom stole his $15 million Santa Barbara mansion.
In his lawsuit, Carl, the father of Kameron’s husband, Court Westcott, claimed to have been tricked into signing a contract in 2020 to sell the home, which he had purchased just two months prior.
Carl claimed he had been on painkillers following back surgery when he agreed to sell his home to Katy and Orlando and noted that he contacted their real estate agent, Bernie Gudvi, shortly thereafter to inform them he’d changed his mind. However, Carl was told the couple was “not willing to walk away” — and that he was “obligated to complete the sale.”
Per the New York Post, a judge recently ruled there was no substantial evidence to prove Carl lacked the mental capacity to engage in a contract for the sale of his Montecito, California, mansion – despite the family’s claims.
On her Instagram, Kameron shared a post reacting to the pop singer’s court victory.
“I want to personally thank all of you who have kept Carl and our family in your thoughts and prayers as we awaited the results of the ongoing trial,” she wrote in the caption of a November 8 post, which included photos of her father-in-law with her family. “Many of you know our inspiring veteran hero & my father-in-law, Carl has been battling Huntington’s disease and became the subject of a legal battle with Katy Perry over the sale of his home in Montecito when he was not in the right mental state. Sadly, I wanted to update that the judge ruled in Katy Perry’s favor.”
She went on to say, “While he was unable to fight for himself, we proudly fought for Carl and will continue to fight for the rights of those with Huntingtons, Alzheimer’s, and all diseases that impair cognitive function against those who try to take advantage of those battling these heartbreaking life impairments.”
The RHOD alum added, “While this is a set back, I know the truth and those who fight for good amongst greed will always prevail. While our hearts break for Carl in his current health condition and now with the results of the trial, let this be a reminder and encouragement to all of us to be the differences and the kindness we need in this world, even when we’re up against obstacles that seem unjust and unethical.”
